at what point does it enter your data sheet? 1 for 18 during his senior year in college?
Pinch hit at bats are not a great way to determine future success.
We went through this with McManus early in the year when the same people in this thread were saying he was a bum.

Pearson is locked in
But Stevenson is hitting something like .214/330/393 in SEC games with a 33% k rate
The lineup needs another RH bat, too.

Stevenson’s average does not reflect how well he has drawn walks, moved runners over, and hit sacrifice flies. He works deep into the count like Jay like.
I agree about needing more right handed hitting in the lineup. We need Dugas back healthy.

At what point does Johnson realize going with the lefty freshman Pearson or Stevenson is better than walking righty Bianco up there?
Is Bianco batting in the 9-hole against a lefty ahead of a few freshman for a game really torquing some of you guys that much?

He has been smashing this weekend. Him and Jobert. Great ABs. Lester doesn’t watch the game. He just pulls up a spreadsheet that says 1-19 deserves ABs.

You really can talk yourself into anything when you are biased

Just like you can talk yourself into thinking Bianco’s hottest month of his 6 year college career, a whopping .258, is worthy of status.

214/330/393
258/400/468
How similar/different are these numbers to you? I am just curious

That's EXACTLY what you are doing.
This season is too small of a sample size for you, because he hasn't hit.
Yet you are perfectly fine using a portion of SEC play last year, since he hit well during that time, while ignoring the rest of the 50 years he's been playing at LSU.
You have an excuse for every time he hasn't hit the baseball, yet are telling us that the one (and only) small portion of his career that he did hit is what should tell us everything we need to know.

Nah, it’s not because he hasn’t hit. It’s because today is his 3rd start of the year, or 7% of the team’s games, and most of his at bats are off the bench & spread out.
Situational at bats does not put a stamp on anything

Sure, if you want to call 100+ ABs just a portion.
And ignore the fact that the natural progression of a college athlete calls for your best play to come in years 3 & 4.
A player not playing well as a freshman or in a handful of games during thr Covid year as a sophomore is not anything out of the ordinary. Perhaps you are caught up in your feelings from the way Manieri used him & the confidence he had in him despite a lack of production.

I’m probably in the minority..but I’d really like to see what Berry could do hitting left handed against lefties.
This is a weird manifestation of some fans’ inability to realize that the team practices outside of the games.

Wait..because I’m curious how Berry would do batting lefty all the time means that I have an inability to realize the team has practice?
I watched Lance Berkman hit wayyyy better from the left side for his entire career…I guess he was a demon in practice from the right side.

ever think it’s possible he was even WORSE batting lefty on lefty than he was batting right on a lefty?

Nope ..never ….ok all kidding aside..we’re talking about something I wish I could have seen for a period of time. Berkman’s swing from the left side was one of the best in the league..whereas his swing from the right side was extremely mechanical
