We need to pickup a tight-end just for depth and injuries. What y’all think???

Get Darius Days an NIL deal and put him out there. He has a year of eligibility and his hands are huge.

Don't we have 4 Scholly TEs? Do we need 5 over best available that could help immediately?
Asking legitimately.

Mashburn and Storz. We’ll be fine and we will pick up another.

Need to upgrade the talent in the TE group. That’s why it looks like LSU will sign 2 HS TE’s in 2023.

worst case scenario you just run with another WR. Its not really the end of the world

Bech will once again find himself in a bastardized role would be my guess.

I hope they can still find one in the portal. If they can't find someone they're comfortable with as a blocker, they might just use an extra guard or tackle in that spot in goal line situations for an extra blocker. Not much much help as a receiver, though.

How is it a surprise if we are supposed to expect it?

Yes, but Taylor has shown he is very serviceable

Put our #3 OT in and run the ball.
On a serious note: That will indeed be the plan some of the time.
Taylor has come a long way. Bulked up... some (250 lbs or thereabouts), playing well - including blocking. Rant wrote him off too early; he needed time to develop. He was 2nd overall in receptions in spring game so he's our #1. Bech is firmly in the WR room as the X-Z (i.e. all over the formations) WR. Mashburn is hurt I think so not sure where he fits in to the grand scheme, he's #2. Storz will see some time- he's a pretty good blocker, experienced (grad), and is about 260 lbs. TE's are Denbrock's near-and-dear position... meaning those guys will be coached up and he will forever be looking for more.
Keep looking in the portal for that prototypical guy, not a tweener. That's what they want.
I find it telling that there wasn't a mad rush, recruiting or portal, to find a typical FB or H-Back guy. That was an early hint the CBK isn't installing the same ND offense. After spring game, we don't really need more hints- that's the path. Expect to see more CBK In Cincinnati than Irish CBK, which in relation to TEs that's a different utilization but used fairly often in both. ND CBK had to have a prototypical TE, it's not absolutely necessary with the Cinn CBK.

We also have a freshman TE, Mason Taylor, coming in this summer from Florida. We aren't in a panic mode in the TE department.
