TVs for outdoor living space

Who has them, did you shell out the money for a true outdoor tv, opt for only a protective housing, or just going at it raw with a simple exposed television mounted outside?
Mine would be mounted above fireplace on covered back porch, but still likely exposed to moisture during windy storms, etc.

Cheap TCL from Walmart and a waterproof cover from Amazon.

This. I got a TCL Roku TV. I can replace every 2-3 years if needed and still be spending less than the cost of a true "outdoor" TV.

Have a 65" TLC on my back porch and don't even need a cover. It's been in service for more than two years now:

Buy cheap no cover will last about 3-4 years then throw away and buy new.

All my friends that have outdoor TVs use inexpensive options. They never have any issues.
I did that and lost 2 TVs in 5 weeks. I got aggravated and bought a SunBrite. Works great and is much better during middle of the day viewing.

I have a SunBrite 43 out by the pool and love it.

Had an older Vizio outside for many, many years and it finally crapped out. Got the cheapest, best looking picture TV from Walmart mart with roku. The first one I had was never covered, but since have moved the location of the TV to where it "might" get some hurricane force rain and wind exposure. Decided to get a cover for it.

Make your own extra-bright outdoor TV from scraps.
That’s a cool project.

Just for the record, that looks like a prreeeeeety covered patio. I think OP is referring to much more exposure to the elements…

The Samsung Terrace TVs are amazing

Don't spend on the overpriced true outdoor TVs. 300 bucks you can get a nice 4k 55 inch Hisense Roku smart TV that looks pretty dam good. I spent 700 bucks on the 75 inch version that is identical to their 32 inches. Picture is good. So far its been out here for a year with no issues. Mine is in outdoor covered patio 40x15. The only time I have covered it is when Ida was coming through. The TCL version is basically the same thing. I just like having the same brand, my guest rooms have 32 inch Hisense TVs. If picture quality is a big concern then yes, spend 2500 on a Samsung or Sony but I only spend that much for my living room and game room. Save the extra dollars brother or spend them on a nice sound system for the patio.

Just hung one of those up today on my patio and it looks great. Picture was good even with the sun out.

quote:This! I use an OLD Vizio 43". Probably 12+ years old. Been hanging up from the ceiling of my pool house for over 2 years. I used to put a cover on it, but it's been about a year since I put that on it. Still going strong. It will eventually die, and when that time comes, I've got another one just like it sitting in the basement next to a brand-new, still in the box TCL that I got as a gift from the Hard Rock.

Don't waste money on an "outdoor" tv.
