Patsy Cline and Jim Reeves. Jim was a little older but his songs after his death were big hits around the world even beating out the Beatles for the top spots.

Completely agree with this. Elvis was note perfect and no other musician could rival his stage presence, not even MJ imo. On the female side I would say Cass Elliot is another one that was taken too soon. Inb4 ham sandwich.

Different. Nothing more. Bon was swagger and clever. But without Brian, there's no Black album. He's a steady rock. I like both. They're just different.

Well said. Bon was the better songwriter but some of Brian's vocals on those first 3 albums was iconic. He wasn't just the raspy 90's live performances which were legendary on their own, he had some grit that I always placed him a notch above Bon.

Prince and Tom Petty have hit me the hardest recently. But to be fair, their best work was behind them.

Still, they died relatively young.

Cobain fits the bill. Kind of kicked over rock music then died a couple of years later, with really only 2 albums to speak of.

For you christian music fans...Rich Mullins was still very vital when he died in a Jeep accident.

He is up there as one of the best rock voices ever IMO... But where would you rank Axle Rose? I always thought his voice was made for rock.

Yes indeed OweO. Always glad to see you chime in. I hope to see some thought provoking threads from you soon. Yours are among the best.

Anyway. Not a big fan but yeah, he has/had a great rock voice.

Im with you on Chester. I realize he played for a band that turned into a meme kind of. But I still think their first two albums are decent.

And Chester was an UNBELIEVABLE talent. He did a Rollin in the Deep cover live once and to say it was better than the original would be the biggest understatement of my life. He was my high school/college go to. He was absolutely amazing.

It was the only time I felt legitimately upset from a musician’s death. And I fully acknowledge LP music was not the best. But I damn sure loved it at the time. And I still kept mad love for Chester.
