2022 Ford Bronco Outer Banks Advanced Edition

An immediate family member took delivery on a new Ford Bronco Outer Banks Advanced Edition yesterday. He ended up paying a lot less than I thought because one his employees dad owns a Ford dealership and ended paying nearly $12k less than what people are pay for this model and trim.
It’s still above MSRP which is too rich for my blood but I have to admit, thats an amazing looking, driving vehicle.
I’ve always been partial to fords and in particular broncos. My dad had a 67’ old school Bronco that my brothers and I loved. Unfortunately a lady ran a light and wrecked into my dad and destroyed it beyond repair. My brothers and were still young kids, I believe I was 8 at the the time. The memories I have from that Bronco are great.
A few years later dad ended up finding a 78’ Bronco XLT Blue body, white top with a 400 (6.6L) engine. The body itself along with interior were in awesome condition. This was 94’ when he bought this one. He ended up taking the 400 out because it had issues and put a rebuilt 351 Cleveland in it. A year later on the way home from work he saw a 79’ Bronco that was baby shite green with the white too and ended up buying it for next to nothing. Transmission was bad and the owner couldn’t afford to have another put in and couldn’t do it himself because he wasn’t very mechanically inclined. This one had a 351 in it and it was a standard.
The 78-79s were the big boxy looking versions which I personally love. We used them as camp vehicles, recreation, mud riding and when my brothers and I got our driver’s license we’d drive them to school. On a nice we’d take the roofs off. Some of my best memories involved those broncos. We’d cut up mud riding in that gumbo mud in soybeans, corn and cotton fields in Tensas where we hunt. We did some pretty serious mud riding. I know most of you are thinking trashy but this was just my brothers, dad and a couple friends who’d cut up in them. It’s not like all these mud riding festivals like they have these days. My brothers and I would get bored in between hunts and jump in the broncos and play. It was nearly impossible to get them stuck. The blue one got stuck one time because I was playing in 2wd and underestimated the mud and lack of bottom there was and I buried it. Had to get a huge trackhoe to get out because dad had to use the boom to lift the rear end in the air to get it to come out. It was literally like a suction cup. A dozer couldn’t even get it out. It could have but would’ve likely pulled the body off the frame. Good times.
Anyway, back to this new Bronco a sibling just purchased. Seeing pictures doesn’t do them justice. The outer banks advanced edition is the best looking SUV 4WD in years, IMO. I thought about getting one but I gotta have a truck and I like the truck I have. I am thinking about possibly ordering me a new Bronco base model outer banks, not the advanced. They’re still a little high so I’m going to play it by ear and maybe wait a couple years.
Sorry for the disgustingly long post. Made me think about my dad who passed several years ago. I miss that man. We had great times. Oh, we actually still have the 78’ Blue/ White Bronco. We just need to do a little work on it and put some new tires on and it would be ready ride. My brothers and I keep saying some day soon when we have time we’ll work on it. That’s been 6 years. Need to do it before it’s too late.
ETA: Have any of you purchased one of the new Broncos (not sport model) and how do y’all like it? Any of you ever owned one of the 78-79 Broncos?
INB4 Blazers were better. GM did make great engines. Almost as good as 60s- early 70s MOPAR engines. Fords have always had great rear ends

Would love to have a late 60s early 70 bronco but the price on those things are amazing now
Old Land Cruisers too. I learned to drive a in a ‘72 land cruiser that was my grand fathers.

Just looked it up also. 2.3l 4 cylinder? Is this a small SUV?

Yes they are. Same size as an explorer basically.
ETA: But the 2.3 is making serious HP

This reminded me of another 4x4 SUV we had. It was 86 Isuzu Trooper 2. Thing was ugly and top heavy but I know for a fact that it never got stock, ever. I did flip it going up a sandy hill that had awkward contours but my brothers and cousin helped me push it back up and the bitch cranked right up. Thing had no HP but was geared perfectly. Never had a mud tire on that vehicle. I would buy one now if I could find one. It believe it was made to offer a cheaper alternative to the Cruiser. I’d absolutely buy an old Land Cruiser if they weren’t so high

I’m expecting to take delivery of mine in the next 5 days. Placed my reservation on 7/14/2020 and still haven’t received it. Pretty pumped about finally getting it. Waiting has been a bummer but I’m locked in to pay MsRP so I guess it was worth it. I need to go back and look at trim models because I’m confused by your descriptions. I’m not familiar with an ‘advanced edition’. And ‘base’ and ‘outer banks’ are 2 different trim levels.

The new Bronco's look awesome. But I'll stick with my tried and proven Jeep. #1 SUV ever built.

I have a Raptor Bronco on order but I don't think I'm going to like it. Imo the flares look horrible, worst case I sell it and make a little scratch.
Always liked the OJ size Broncos, plenty of room inside.

A guy here got an allocation from a local dealership (the guy and the person that owned the dealership were good friends) to get a Bronco Raptor.
A couple of weeks after they got the allocation, the dealership called the guy to tell him that someone is willing to offer him $70k for his allocation, not the vehicle just the allocation of the vehicle.

We own that same model and got it at MSRP when we ordered the first day back in June of 2020 we signed an agreement and put a down payment to lock in MSRP. White and Hard top 4 door with lux package non sasquatch but with locker upgrades. We put a 3 1/2 lift and 37 x 12.5 X 20 KM3's on custom wheels. Changed all the factory badging to custom one off retro badges all the way around. Ordered a bimini top and other aftermarket accessories. Rides like a nice pickup truck i wasnt expecting it to be that good. I was expecting a "JEEP" kinda ride and was amazed at the suspension.
We also own a 75 model Bronco that was frame off restored in 2007. Been Ford Family for a long time.
PS if you are offered to go to the Bronco Off-rodeo anywhere in America why you wait on delivery...... GO do NOT pass up the oppurtunity. Im a country boy my entire like and mudd rode and had 4 wheel drives forever and I still learned a bunch and drove the shite outt the broncos.

I bought the little brother the bronco sport about a month ago. Using it as a commuter for the next year then giving to my son when he gets his license. Basically a all wheel drive escape with a more masculine and functional cab. I am gonna look hard at the full size for my next vehicle very impressed with the value of the sport.

24Nights,
Not to bust your bubble but am very shocked you got a raptor Allocation when the entire state of Louisiana to date as of Monday has only received 14. Phase 2 allocation release isnt until late August when a larger number will be sent to specific dealers. You must meet certain volume requirements as a dealership to even be considered for a raptor allocation.

I ordered the Black Diamond Sasquatch with the 2.7 early last year. Still don’t even have a VIN number yet. Bank account might be hurting when the day finally comes two years from now

Curious what the requirements are?
Do you have specific info on the Louisiana orders?
I've been in the system since the first orders were put in and never ordered so my salesman said I was good. I do not have a vin yet though.
