What's the best rental car company for service and rewards points?

I've been a Hertz Gold member for 15 years. And in that 15 years I've averaged about 30 days of rentals per year. You know what that gets you? About 4 "free" days in a Toyota Corrola. Hertz is a piece of shite company.

I'm also a rewards member with Eneterprise but I've never really like dealing with them.

Who y'all use?

National is my favorite because you can just walk up and get in whatever car you want. My friend has Hertz and waited an hour and the airport recently and had to miss dinner because of them.

I second National. Pre-Covid I would rent a car 30+ weeks out of the year and they were always great to me. Love being abe to just pick any car and go

I have Avis and they’ve declined significantly during the pandemic. Looks like I may need to look at National.

Full disclosure, I used to make just six or so rentals a year. Less as of late.

I can’t really speak to rewards because I don’t rent often enough to get much out of them, but I’m an Emerald Club member with National and love being able to go straight to my car and skip the counter.

I don’t rent a car often (3-4 times year on average), but when I do I drive the shite out of it.

Best service by far is Enterprise, National is decent. I will not deal with Hertz at all after all these recent issues of cars being reported stolen, and months later a renter gets pulled over and put in cuffs. They are making excuses, not apologies, and it's a risk I'm not willing to run.

Hertz is the worst.

I had always used National and liked it b/c of how easy it was to just walk up and pick a car and be on your way.

My company switched who they get their best discounts from and prefer we use Hertz now and it's been a disaster. The process of getting my car and out of the garage has been not ideal to say the least. Rented 4 times from them and finally said the hell with that, i'm going back to National. It's been a 30 minute ordeal every time with Hertz, usually over something so stupid and insignificant. Twice the car that they had me reserved for wasn't in the bay I was supposed to pick my car from.
