What Age is Too Young For The Beach?

Is taking a 6 month to the beach a bad idea?

Any age is fine, it just puts more work on you. Don’t expect to be on the beach all day long.

Any age is cool if the proper precautions are taken. It's gonna be a pain in the arse, but it can be done safely I guess.

This.
A good idea I’ve seen is people bringing little kid pools to the beach to help contain babies/infants and keep them out of the sand a bit. May try that. I’d also recommend a place with a lazy river, as that’s a good alternative to the beach. We took my son when he was about 9 months and he loved it (beach and lazy river).

Does this 6 month old have a grandad, or grandma, pop, granny, gramps grandaddy, mimi etc... Grammy doesn't like the sun too much so she gets her 30 minutes of sun

Bringing a little one that isn’t walking yet doesn’t seem fun. There’s sand everywhere, extra trips back up to the room. We left ours behind first trip when she was about this age. The next year she was able to have some fun.

I mean its up to you. Probably wont be a great time but maybe get them to nap and have them covered from the sun.

Sounds miserable to me. Unless you have a big pop up tent for shade and plenty of help

Baby sun suit and a hat. Also baby sunscreen anywhere that’s not covered.

No, it’s not a bad idea - but get one of those baby beach tents
It won’t keep all the sand away - but it’ll be better than nothing

IMO, 6 months and older is fine because you can use sunscreen. Under 6 months you’re not supposed to use sunscreen, so IMO that would be miserable.
As another poster said, get one of those cheap inflatable pools and bring a 5 gallon bucket. Inflate pool, and make a few trips to get water for baby to sit/play in. I’d also get a battery powered fan and avoid the peak hot times

Ours has been a few times. Once at 2 months old and it was in May, she loved it and slept on moms chest under a canopy most of the time. Went again at 7 months old and didn’t like being out at the beach as much (it was hotter though) and then went again at 15 months old and hated the sand at first, then warmed up to it. She tried to eat some sand too, but quickly realized that wasn’t a good idea. Looking forward to going back again this year.
Buy those spf swimsuits with shirts if you can, it’s just more protection for the little ones.

We took a 7 month old to the beach for about 5 days last year. That said, we were actually on the beach for like 2 hours combined, which is fine by us. A few more hours at the pool. It's more work, but we're not all day beach people anyway so it's fine.
Helps if it's somewhere where you can walk around a lot, see other little kids, etc. that doesn't involve the beach itself (like 30A, for example).

Lotta work to be enjoyable.
A cousin of mine just took her two month old baby to the beach. I can’t see that being very fun.

You need a canopy and the baby is going to probably get incredibly sandy.

Our kids grew up on the beach from practically birth. We brought pack n play with umbrellas over. Sun hats were useful. A lot of stuff to bring every weekend, but it was worth it. We love the beach!

Absolutely

We brought our son when he was like 8 months. The trick is to get a house directly on the beach. We brought our baby monitor and camera. When it was nap time we just walked the 50 feet to the house, put him down, came back out to the beach. Could hear him and see him the whole time.
Worked out great. The sun zaps the kiddos pretty dang quick though.
