All series, it seems the strategy is switch everything with no fighting over screens. Not sure I get it.

Jonas can't cover it. Nance is the only guy that shows hope. CP3 is one of the best PGs ever. He is a mid range killer. Only thing I think you can do is send a double at him and try to get the ball out of his hands.

Edit: thought that was about who. Definitely have to fight through screens. Not a fan of switching that easy

It’s unbelievable. Don’t get it.

Hayes is athletic enough time cheat it and catch Ayton rolling but... you know...

Jose was the only one I saw that didn’t die on the screen and I believe he only did that twice.

We blitzed him with an extra defender once late in the game, which forced it out of his hands. They didn’t score on that possession.

They did usually isolate Paul so only way to trap him would be with both his man and the screening defender, but how poorly everyone else shot 3s taking a chance letting screener roll and kick off would have likely also led to better outcomes.

Should've just gone under the screens until Paul showed he could hit a 3. He was 1/6 tonight.

Its been our defense all season.

Almost every team in the league has been switching everything for years. Very few teams don't switch.

Joe also had 3 ridiculous fouls called against him and the ref made him get out of his sneak corner.

Val is horrible vs the P&R...and Nance is nowhere near as bad as Val, but will still be constantly abused by CP3. CP3 is kinda good at that P&R stuff...and deadly from the "elbow". We would also get abused if we just went "blitz" vs CP3.

Sadly, our best option, with current roster, is to just let Herb try to fight through pick after pick, and eventually end up a step behind maybe the best P&R player of all time. Kinda hard to play D on CP3, when you have to start from a step behind him, or even just half a step, for that matter. Even for Herb.

This what I don’t understand. Thought I heard the announcers say he’s shooting threes at his worse clip since rookie year, around 31%. So why not make him beat us deep. Bad coaching job. Should have changed it up alot sooner.

Green has too much respect for Paul and he’s letting game 1 cloud the analytics.

They don't set picks to try & get CP a 3-pt shot. They set them waaay closer to the hoop, with the goal of getting him that 15-foot shot from the elbow. The "right" elbow, to be precise.

Ayton rolling

Ayton didn’t even roll. It was the laziest P&R I’ve ever seen. That’s what makes it so frustrating.

We are trying.

Refs are not calling constantly moving screens.... against them at least.

Herb cannot do his patented slip through the screen because Ayton just moves to block him after he sets

Using a box in one defense on CP would be worth trying after he starts going off. Keep Naji, or Jose or Herb on him and just zone defense the other four.

IDK, something has to be tried.

We’ve seen this throughout the season of Wille rookie year. He’s kind of slow at adjusting—in game and post game with rotations.

I game he tend to only make adjustments after half and post game.

I know many are viewing this year as a chance to make some noise based on players but the growth of players AND coach will be what drives us into the future. Willie and the players will learn a lot from this run—win or lose
