The Florida Senate passed on Wednesday legislation to end Disney’s special tax and governing jurisdiction.

The Senate passed S. 4-C, which is the legislation that would dissolve the Reedy Creek Improvement District, otherwise known as the special tax and governing jurisdiction for the Walt Disney World Resort.

The legislation passed with 23 votes in favor of the bill, and 16 against the bill.

Rep. Randy Fine

BREAKING: Disney is a guest in Florida. Today, we remind them. @GovDeSantis just expanded the Special Session so I could file HB3C which eliminates Reedy Creek Improvement District, a 50 yr-old special statute that makes Disney to exempt from laws faced by regular Floridians.

Chances this passes in their House? I wonder how soon they can sign this into law.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Disney is a big winner, here is your prize from the Governor of Florida.

If Ron Desantis pulls this off and clips those Disney nuts, he'll be the second coming of Ronald Reagan and anyone who would pull for Trump over him, is a fricking fool.

It's going to be hilarious to see this play out. Watch the left try to defend a CORPORATION from getting outrageous special privileges that normal businesses do not.

With this, and Elon planning to move on Twitter in 10 days, certainly feels like a tide shift....

Likely this is a "shots fired" type of move. I still love it though. It'll be fun to see play out for sure.

Keep this in mind, when or if it becomes crunch time between him and Trump.

I mean, I like the gesture, but I doubt this even makes a dent fiscally. The current market cap is $226B. In the absolute worst case scenario, I can't imagine this costs them more than $100M annually. Even if it were a billion, it's still easily digestible.

Honestly, at a certain period time, special Kickstart programs like this by the states and local governments should face a sunset. Disney's is way overdue, but they were probably greasing some palms to keep talk of that quiet.

Dems are calling this retribution. Disney shouldn't have bitten the hand that feeds it.

I love what Ron is doing, but let’s be honest. It is retribution

It is, but it's cloaked in good governance, making it bullet proof.
