Is it time to give one of them a chance again?

Connor Simon is still injured, but the position should be up for grabs.

So did Thompson and Doughty and they are terrible.

Correct, Thompson and Doughty have had their shot though. If you are going to lose you might as well try something different.

I think if Johnson felt they could do a better job they would have already gotten a shot.

As usual, the point sailed right over your head.

He’s saying it’s time to try somebody else because it can’t be any worse. This isn’t complicated.

You are not taking Cade out of the line up. He is one of the best hitters in college baseball. Get real. Thompson can sit though. Obviously the head coach knows something we don’t because he would have already made the switch.

Next midweek I do not have a problem trying something new at all. Anything.

next midweek game I wouldn't mind him having 3 different guys each play 3 innings, and after 2 midweek games somebody might step up, and if not at least you are sending a message to Thompson. Right now he can make errors and nothing is changing.

So we just leave the guy whose proven to be terrible to remain at SS for two more SEC games before you try to fix the problem?

Unfortunately we have a few guys who have proven to be pretty terrible at SS.

We need to give it up. Jay said last night he’s not changing anything. This is who we have.

I’m probably a Saffford homer but I don’t think he’s getting fair shake. He was second in the team in hitting in the fall an spring and was good enough to start the first game of the year and now has a total of 5 at bats on the year.

Do you remember him getting a shot in the regionals last year? He makes Thompson look like Ozzie Smith

Last year when he played, he truly looked overmatched...not even competitive at the plate.

I also hear a lot of people say he is a terrible option. Thompson is a better player. He’s playing very poorly, but Safford is not a better option. Just a different one.

It would be like pulling a struggling QB for a lesser talented player. One who has not seen the field all season. And doing it after halftime in a close game against the number 6 team in the country.

Different does not mean better. It may end up being better, but you don’t pull that experiment at halftime. If you see something you may like in Safford (and I don’t think JJ does), you experiment with that during the week in a meaningless game.

Regardless of your opinion, everyone should agree it’s by no means an automatic move to sit him mid series. There are many factors.

At the very least when he fields a ball just toss it back to the pitcher, don’t even look towards first base.

I think this is the time when you give Holt or Leto a shot. Some kids are gamers and perform when the lights are on. They may be young but if they are fundamentally sound in practice roll one of them out there. Couldn’t be worse. JT’s head is messed up and he needs some time on the pine to get straightened out.

Should be very motivating to Thompson and possibly knock others out of their ruts, create a new flow. Def worth trying.

Just like he looked in the first game this year, which is why he was promptly sat.

The answer right now and for the next 10-12 games is to flip JT and CD back around.
