Absurd value. This FO still hasn't overpaid anyone

So basically the veteran minimum. Can’t ask for better than that.

I'll be pumped if we can somehow get something out of Charlton. First round bust so far.

The competition in camp for the D side of the ball is going to be fun to watch

There are things to be unsure about as a Saints fan:

-Is Jameis the guy?
-Is Dennis Allen the guy?
-What do we do in the draft?

But the thing we don't have to worry about is our FO. We legitimately have one of the best in the league.

I don't understand the lack of commitment to PJ and the lack of interest around the league.

He's a proven + player but year after year has to sign these one year offers for bottom tier money.

That "prove it" contract though but seriously to the front office so far this offseason

To be fair...last year was P.J.'s 1st good year. It also happened to be the 1st year that we used him mostly as a Safety.

That being said...we just got him for a complete steal considering how well he played last year.

I'm sure it's been discussed, but do we lose a comp pick because of this?

Have seen both sides of this debate, and the final answer is no one knows bc the league keeps the formula so close to the vest.

The one thing I have seen pretty consistent is there are X number of comp picks per round regardless of what happens in FA. Then, when it's time to figure out the comp picks they assign all the picks for the minority hires first. After that, the league looks at their "formula" for each team/player signed and weight them accordingly. From there, picks and rounds are assigned.

I assume we had to give Andy $3mm as a vet min? I mean, I like the signing, but losing a 3rd would be pretty painful.

Vet min is a little over 1 mil.

No way in hell someone as good as Dalton signs for vet min.

No. We lost our possible comp picks on the first and second free agent we signed since we only lost 2.

So they were "long gone" by the time we signed Dalton.

They work on a 1 to 1 basis before you even start making any other calculations.
