Only drive through NOLA once a week, and as quickly as possible.

We live about 100 miles away. We’ve been twice in the past 60 days. The first was for a concert at the Arena. We stayed two nights. Had a lovely dinner at Vincent’s one night and decent late lunch at Deanie’s the next day. The second trip was to have dinner with friends. We walked from our hotel on Canal to Luke. No issues whatsoever.

The lack of concern from the NOPD is quite obvious. They look right through the hood rats. It’s obvious that they aren’t in the crime prevention business. We only saw one fistfight. I’m sure location and time of day can affect your experience. We didn’t have any issues, but my head was on a swivel, the same as it would be anywhere. This is not a city to over endulge in intoxicants and stroll around.

It’s still a good city with a lot to offer despite the mayor’s attempts to destroy it. Yes, hotel parking is expensive. I use Spot Hero and book my spot for a fraction of what the hotels charge.
