Kansas is a basketball school. NCAA made them Teflon Don status. They had Self making offers for Zion in writing.

Woody bitched out a year too early. Wade had a national championship line up next year. He had 3 - 5 stars coming in to compliment the current talent + Adam Miller. Should have let that play out. It would have been our first shot at a Natty since 2005-06.

Instead we implode and start over as we let the NCAA bend us over to protect football. We chose the beta route. Not the rock chalk jayhawk way

Wade won 1 Tournament game over several years. LSU was not a great program under Wade anyway.

Will Wade set LSU basketball back 5 years.

You people are what others call "dindus." Always blaming someone else.

Well said. Cross the bridge when you come to it, not beforehand

He wanted to play nice with family. His non related Daddy Emmert. He also wanted Wade gone so this was a win win for Woodworth. Wade gone and he gets to prop up the NCAA. We have a NCAA lackey as AD while other schools will fight the NCAA tooth and nail for a successful program.

Regardless of who set the program back (there will always be arguments on whether it was Wade or Woody), the timeline for us to become a top 3 program in conference and an annual single digit seed tourney team is WAAAAAAAY out past 5 years. Especially when you consider the facilities are literally coming apart at the seams, combined with the rest of the SEC spending so heavily on hoops right now.

We can pay players now. What Wade got fired for. Literally LA will change the rules so LSU can pay players. It was a bad time to reset, but we can pay whoever we want. You can't easily replace the fire Wade brought back to the PMAC. People are forgetting that before Wade there were sometimes 100 people in the place

if wade wouldve been smarter then i could see standing behind him but the payment from a personal checking account is just really stupid. I love wade and thought next year could be special but i really think woodwards hands were tied here.

Yep. Too many people have a complete inability to be honest with themselves and admit WW fricked up.

I know every school does it, but Wade did it in such a stupid way the school really had no choice but to fire him.

Other coaches are at least smart enough to not have a direct link back to themselves. But not Ww.

People outside of the athletic department can pay players. Coaches cannot. Will (only one NCAA tournament win) allowed a player’s fiancé to blackmail him, and he payed her out of his own account. A coach is not allowed to do that.

No wonder you people are so confused, you don't understand the rules.

Yeah, go talk to A&M. State legislatures are going to "write the rules"

Was he just doing exactly what Self, K and other prominent coaches have been doing for years? Also yes.

But he wasn’t doing the exact same thing. The other coaches were smart enough to have a buffer between them and the cheating so there was no undeniable direct link back.

Wade was so stupid about it, he left a money trail DIRECTLY back to himself. There is absolutely no level of plausible deniability there. That’s what other coaches did differently and that’s why WW is gone.

It’s amazing that some of you still refuse to admit that he screwed up and left the school no real choice.

Not to mention the NCAA hates Wade so much they would have took their own actions. They was already threatening action against the football program to boot.I like Wade as a coach but keeping him would have screwed us way worse the NCAA was determined to frick us.

See the Woodward interns are out in full force this morning. Here are the responses you’ll see. It’s almost like someone gave them talking points:

His hands were tied.

Wade only won one tournament game.

NOA proves the NCAA got him.

Wade was .500 in conference.

The reality is the NOA sounds really bad, the question is what proof backs up the allegations. You stick it out with Wade and make the NCAA prove its case.

Fixed it for you.

If Wade used this technique, he'd probably still be the coach. Instead, he foolishly and arrogantly did it himself.

Quit with the Woodard did this to LSU.

In the business world, if a CEO has a rogue employee that is bringing harm to the company, is he fired?

Yeah Woodward was the one under investigation. He was also the one careless enough to pay players from his personal account. Did I mention he was also the guy that made the “string arse offer” on the FBI wiretap?

OP you are a dumbshit if you think Woodward is the reason LSU basketball is in the state that it’s in.

Will Wade set LSU basketball back? Are you comparing Will's years at LSU with Trent Johnson and Johnny Jones. Those two left us in a great position to battle for the SEC cellar just about every year.

The only good outcome of this situation is that they take advantage of the next two years to totally update/change the PMAC. The PMAC and Alex Box have been passed up by just about every SEC arena/stadium in the league.
