No shite! Got my new toy today and have no ammos.

Bowie’s is the only place that had 6.8 SPC but it’s FMJ.

Where are you getting ammo and what kind?

Academy in Hammond, LA had a good selection a couple weeks ago and was able to buy 9MM FMJ at .40 a round. Albeit limited to a couple boxes a purchase. I need to swing by tomorrow.

I would really like to know how and why the ammo shortage got this bad, and for this long.

Any time a Democrat wins the White House, panic buying of guns begins. Obama set records for gun sales. Those millions of new owners also buy ammo. I’ve seen gun magazines set out the numbers based on just a few boxes per new gun, as they are staggering. Plus word of shortages induced stockpiling ammo by existing gun owners.

The ammo manufacturers say the are running wide open, but product sells immediately. They also say that opening a new production facility costs many millions and would take years to get operational. They are probably content to generate tons of revenue as is rather than risk building a new plant and then seeing the market fall. (Similar to big oil companies no longer borrowing millions and rushing to drill as soon as prices go up. Their shareholders got tired of the borrow/bust cycle.)

What type of ammo are you looking for? I sold some pistols a couple of months ago and no longer need it. Was thinking about selling it at the gun show this weekend.

Friend of mine I spoke w this past weekend who does logistics for a top 10 trucking company (and is a gun freak like me) told me one of his customers is a regional alphabet training center who normally replenishes every 3 months. Since the beginning of the year, they have doubled their normal shipment and are receiving them on a monthly basis. Take it for what it's worth...

George Soros owns Cerberus Capital Management, the parent company of Freedom Group, a company that manufactures guns and ammunition.

Freedom Group designs, manufactures and markets their firearms primarily under the Remington, Marlin, Bushmaster, DPMS, H&R, L.C. Smith, Parker, Dakota Arms, Miller Arms, and Nesika brand names.

Not any more. They went Bankrupt and sold off all of the companies.

I probably have 1,000 rounds of 12 gauge in various shot sizes - but I'm not sure.

I don’t know so I’m completely guessing:

Regulations preventing expansion of operations at current facilities
Shortage of metallic raw materials
The current margins are sky high so they are just raking in profits
