Some think we could get hot & finish 8th in West...I wouldn't take 8th

if you gave it to me. At this time, I'm totally happy with 9th. Assuming the Lakers hang on for 10th, I want them to HAVE to play us at our place AND then, if they happen to beat us, they probably have to play either Denver, Minn or Dallas on the road. If the Clips fell all the way to 9th, I don't trust them enough to allow them to be ONE of the games the Lakers would need to win, to make the top 8 REAL playoff.

Of course, I'd be even happier if Spurs managed to somehow beat out the Lakers for 10th, but who really believes that's gonna happen? Either way, I'll take 9th and go from there....and count on the Knicks and/or Wizards to help us out from the East for that Lakers' pick.

frick the Lakers. I hope they lose every game they have left, LeBron tears his ACL in the process, AD gets a yeast infection and Russel Westbrook stays on their roster forever.

This thread is way to emotional and not logical for me.

We need the Lakers to continue to loose to get a better pick, frick trying to get revenge or whatever. The best revenge we can ever get is their pick turning into a top 4 pick

Do you know how the play in works? I wish we could get the 8th seed (I don't think there's enough games for us to make up the ground). But if your 8th you have 2 chances to make the playoffs. You play 7 on the road and if you win your in. Then even if the Lakers win there 1st play in game there not going to beat Denver or Minn on the road. Plus if where 8th and lose the 1st play in game we get the Lakers at home anyway.

this and we aren’t finishing 8th. That’s incredibly improbable.

We would essentially have to win out and have the clippers go less than .500

---Actually, my post is totally logical with little to no emotion involved. I, of course, want the Lakers to lose every game from here on at which point my post is moot. But assuming, as one should, that the Lakers will hang on to 10th, I want them to have the 2 toughest games possible, to sneak into the top 8 real playoffs. The Clippers, imo, would not be part of a "toughest games possible" scenario for the Lakers. My first priority, at this point, is to secure the Lakers' pick, although I, of course, hope we go on to do well in the playoffs.

With the Clippers remaining schedule it wouldn't be shocking for them to go 2-7.

You might want to check the schedules. The Clippers have like 7 games against teams either fighting for home court in the first round or trying to stay out of the play in.

Yeah that’s possible but is it possible for us to go 8-2 the rest of the way? Both are long shots. Like I said it’s not impossible just highly unlikely. We still have Memphis, GS, Chicago, and Charlotte on the second leg of a b2b.

You absolutely want the 8th. spot. The homestand with BI out hurt the Pels's chances but, make no mistake, the 8th. seed is the goal. I can't emphasize enough the job the team has done in changing the perception and culture in less than a year. I give a lot of credit to WG, BI, Val, and CJ but Josh Hart absolutely was the catalyst. He pulled the team together with a style of play and galvanized the team to understand they have to play with the team they had (sans Zion).

This was huge in turning around the perception of Zion and the Pels or BI and the Pels. Pels brand slowly has turned into a team that is committed to defense and plays hard and together. This, with lagniappe from Herb, Jose, and Hayes, and it's easy to see that you don't want to go back to the if and buts mentality.

I believe the Lakers are going to take care of themselves and the Pels will get a decent pick. However, ask yourself, where we'd rather be at the start of the 22 seasons. Coming off a play-in game or coming off a playoff series? .... A playoff series in the Big Easy would be lit as frick and the narrative that Zion needs help, the franchise is moribund, and small market teams being non-competitive goes away.

From a positioning standpoint, the team is still top-heavy, however, they are set at the top 8 positions (all either in their prime or coming into their prime within the next 3 years) with a bevy of draft picks to build out with another defensive stud and a better bench. Winning 1 of 2 games at home in the play-in is significantly better odds than having to win two games on the road. Personally, I'd love a WG v Monte first-round matchup.

The odds of getting 8th are just so incredibly low, but we should root for 8th all day before 9th.

Unless you truly want to miss the playoffs to try and get that top 4 pick, which I get, give me 8th to only need 1 win to make the playoffs.

Yes. We do. Those are the only 4 games we should not be favored in, but Memphis and GSW may have seeding locked up by the time we played and Curry is out so I would put a ? on those 2. Win the games you are supposed to, and get steal 1 or 2 and u have a chance.

He is supposed to be reevaluated in 2 weeks. Which what put him close to our game, but our game is also against GSW is the 2nd of a B2B for them, so unless they absolutely have to win for some reason, we maybe looking at no Steph and possible some other players getting rest or limited mins.

Points taken. Being my first year as a Pels' fan, I very likely underestimated all the variables involved, that you listed. Being new, I tend to only look at the current season...and disregard the past. It's very likely that this is a mistake on my part. I "sit" corrected.

Welcome to the Flock. I dont post much but the culture change has been significant. The night of the CJ trade when you saw Josh Hart and NAW Courtside and being hugged and embraced by their former teammates, was the night you can point to that change the perception of this team. Then C.J. and company, Jose, and company reinforced it. When wins start rolling this could become a place where players choose to come, which would have never been in our wildest dreams 10 months ago.

You’ll always be tops with me for being the first to call the shot on Herb. You have a good eye for talent and potential.
