SPF summer long sleeve shirts

I love wearing long sleeves for sun protection even in sunny summer. Enlighten me with the purpose of an SPF shirt though??? How does that help me? Just the fact I'm wearing long sleeves protects my arm skin from sun. I don't understand what is beneficial to a shirt with SPF.

If you feel the need to wear a long sleeve shirt to keep sun off your arms, just don’t go in the sun. These dudes wearing these long sleeves look pathetic. Unless you’re working in the sun daily, you don’t have shite to worry about. And if you are afraid of skin cancer…stay out of the sun.

I worked construction my first summer out of high school and all the old guys wore long sleeve button down shirts. Way before SPF so I assume it helped.

Can confirm FR shirts do. They also make you sweat your balls off if your banging up 1502/3 iron in the middle of the summer trying to make some beer money for football season in the fall.
