The shift is garbage and should be banned. No one wants to see a 102 mph line drive turned into a routine ground ball in shallow right.

Yeah, but the defense is taking a big chance opening up a big hole.
It’s the hitters that make the shift work against them. They have too much pride to try to go the other way or bunt the ball in the huge no man’s land.
Do it enough and they’ll stop shifting on you.

I learned to go oppo as a kid because the vacant lot we played wiffleball on had a huge fig tree with poison ivy in it in left field and a short porch in right.

A hit in the air in that tree was auto out and you had to get the ball.

That’s bullshite. If the hitters would learn to “go with the pitch”, the shifting would disappear. If the defense knows you’re a dead pull hitter, I’m going to shift until you learn to hit it the other way.

Pretty easy to take a 95 mph inside fastball the other way huh?

You pitch into the shift. You aren’t gonna see many guys hit an inside pitch the other way. It’s all about odds for the defense. As a hitter, guess what, it’s also all about the odds…I have a better chance of just hitting it where it’s pitched and finding green than trying to hit an inside pitch the other way. It’s a game of inches.

If a team is shifting you’re getting pitched inside. You ever tried taking a 90+ mph fastball in on your hands and spraying it the other way? Not exactly simple or easy. Hard line drives up the middle means a hitter did absolutely everything right and it should take a Herculean effort to make plays on that ball. With the shift it’s just routine and that shits boring as frick.

C'mon, man! That's not nice and I feel bad for laughing at it.
