The Thing About Pam - NBC/Blumhouse Renee Zellweger Dark Comedy

Yeah, I get it that it's based on a real woman's murder. There was a whole Dateline episode about it, etc., but I wasn't interested in watching this until Mrs. Vox caught the first episode and said they had Keith Morrison narrating it, and the approach is very tongue-in-cheek.
A rural Missouri housewife with cancer turns up dead in what is assumed to be a textbook case of The Husband Obviously Did It. The problem is that Renee Zellweger (under a ton of makeup) is her meddling, narcissist best frenemy who can't go to the convenience store without it looking suspicious.
First episode is great, but Lord have mercy, Katy Mixon is approaching baby hippo size.

Now you did it.

My wife and I are watching for one reason and one reason only...the scenes with Betsy's mom's house were filmed on my street. If not for that, I would have dropped it 10 minutes in. The whole midwestern "Ohhhh yeahhh" thing is like nails on a chalkboard to me...and I say this as a native of South LA with the yats, coonasses, and generally abusive manner in which we approach phonetics around here. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconspank.gif)

My wife squealed when she saw the unabashed LoveSac reference. We are huge fans since buying our first Sactionals last Easter, and also have the PillowSac, SuperSac & The Big One. We even have the White Eskimo Phur cover that's on Betsy's daughter's SuperSac.

Points for consistency, I guess.

Wife got me to watch the trailer and I thought sure why not. It's on the list for the weekend.

I saw the preview and couldnt remember if it was an HBO documentary or a Dateline episode. Pretty sure the Dateline episode was the exact same name right?
I know its Zellweger and she's a fantastic actress, but i'm to the point where I cant even bring myself to watch a network station tv show. I cant remember the last time I did, maybe Parks and Rec. There's just so much better quality stuff out there. I might have to give this a shot though because it is a crazy story.

I never watched the Dateline coverage. There's something about true crime drama that draws in suburban white housewives like nothing else going. It's a fascinating phenomenon.

Do you think she is wearing padding or is it Katy´s real size? the real Betsy did not look that big.

I'm recording it, haven't watched yet.
Hupp's various trials and crimes have always been big news around here locally. I'd imagine they're going to get some good viewership in the St Louis market.

I'm not familiar with the story, so I have no idea how it turned out. I'm just along for the ride.
Well, that and Keith Morrison's voiceover.

This is why my wife and I watched since it was filmed down the street. My daughter went and sat out there a few times to watch.

Same. Mrs. Vox just rearranged the living room again this week, and damn near cried when we vacuum packed the Big One for the winter.

There are maybe half a dozen decent network shows out there. Based on the first episode, this has the potential to be one of them.

Yeah, I know little to nothing about this story, but I have a feeling we're just getting started...

The 3rd episode is my favourite so far of the series, Josh Duhamel was great, his portrail really expressed my thoughts while watching the trial unfold.
Shame on that judge and jury shame. my god.
