He should start every game we play until the season is over. Reid has no business starting this year.

Who technically starts the game is not a big deal. But I do think he should be getting at least the same amount of minutes, if not more than Reid.

It is the final week of the regular season. Presumably LSU will reach the NCAA Tournament. So that means LSU may have only 3 games left before tournament play. The development of Reid is not going to suddenly go from 0 to 100 by NCAAT time simply as a result of him playing the bulk of the minutes in the next 3 games.

With two huge games starting tonight play the guys that give you the best chance to win. O'Neal is not the 2nd coming of Shaq. But he has shown, in limited action, he has enough ability to contribute far more than Reid right now. I have no idea why Wade continues to have such a blind spot when it comes to Reid.

Shareef may not be giving the effort in practice. Attitude may suck. We really don't know what's going on behind the scenes.

But take away any of those things, and he should be starting and playing majority of the game.

I have no reason to believe Shareef is not handling his business though.

To maximize the potential of this team he has to start and play the majority of the minutes over Reid imo . Problem is I don’t see wade changing with 1 week left in the regular season

Yes. I'd like to see them both on the court against bigger lineups.

i agree. more of an natural athlete, better with the ball, better dribbler, rebounder, i think reid is a better perimeter shooter which hurts shareef cause of wades offense often puts the 5 with the ball on the perimeter. He should get more playing time as of now though, due to our other 6 or 7 players are pretty much confined to the perimeter (except for days, eason, and fudge whom can all mix it up down low if needed). Reid might develop into a better C but it will take time.

Although Shareef has been quick to get fouls when he gets in, Reid has been like that all season. Shareef plays aggressive on the boards, on D and on offense. Whether he starts or not, he should be getting significant minutes.

He definitely wouldn't be playing if he wasn't.

Also, before we turn this into a shite on Efton thread (again), let's remember that Reef is 4 years older than him and Reef also struggled for playing time at UCLA when he was Reid's age. Doesn't mean Reef shouldn't be getting more PT, it just means don't give up on Reid.

We will need Reid, Efton, Reef, Days, and Fudge tonight considering that Jaylin Williams may flop and foul out the whole team

Wade may have promised him a starting spot to get him to come here.

He has had a foot problem all season. Wade can't play him if the trainers and doctors don't give him a green light. I hope he is completely well now but I did see him start to limp late in the game. I agree he is talented and should play.

Shareef has definitely passed up Reid and Fudge.
Another major reason he should start is Reid has
gotten 2 fouls in the first few minutes of several games,
making him completely useless for that game. Maybe if he
sat on the bench and watched the early part of the game,
he could be more effective (couldn't hardly be less)

Being one of Shaq’s kids, I highly doubt that. Big Diesel not having that weak shite.

Look this is going to sound bizarre but Wade has always talked about how important the tip is. And the at least a few times I can remember (Florida/at UK/ and maybe at SC) We got a pretty good Days layup out of the tip, so I think we are running a set off the tip that Wade likes.

I think this is the sole reason Reid starts. Not that it matters he picks two fouls up in 3 minutes.

While I too am perplexed that Reid is getting more minutes than Shareef, it was suggested on this board, that this may be a recruiting tool as well. In that WW needs to show future 4/5 stars that they will start right away and/or contribute significant minutes.

Although this seems like a flawed decision, in regards to the current team, I think that’s a legitimate point, and may contribute to deciding Efton’s playing time???

We don’t know who is in the pipeline, and WW may be playing the long game. Identifying potential 5 star recruits starts very early in player’s high school career. Coaches “work” on them for years in some cases.

I will use Tremont Waters as an example.
I remember Will saying he’d been trying to recruit Tremont (although not a 5 star) for years - before ever coaching at LSU. He lost out to John Thompson at Georgetown. But when Thompson left before the 2017/18 season started, Tremont’s Dad didn’t want him playing for Patrick Ewing, so Will swooped in and got him showing the result of perseverance.
And I know this to be true because I spoke to Ed Waters on numerous occasions.
Ed was also quoted as saying “Tremont’s development is important. Some of these kids can go anywhere and can go one and done. But some of these kids are like Steph Curry and Davidson, where they need to go somewhere and develop."
Perhaps their development hinges on playing a lot of minutes, in the eyes of recruits?

And isn’t there a kid on the horizon that wants to play in gold uniforms and WW promised that ?

Maybe so. But we are at the end of the season. He's started almost every game to this point. It's now time to play the guys that give you the best chance to win as opposed to keeping "campaign promises". Hell, I don't care if Wade wants to continue to start him....as long as O'Neal is playing as many, or more, minutes.
