China has now (sorta) condemned the invasion and offered to play role in ceasefire.

China signalled it was ready to play a role in finding a ceasefire in Ukraine as it “deplored” the outbreak of conflict in its strongest comments yet on the war.
Beijing said it was “extremely concerned about the harm to civilians” in comments that came after a phone call between Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi and his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba.
“Ukraine is willing to strengthen communications with China and looks forward to China playing a role in realising a ceasefire,” the Chinese statement said on Tuesday.
It added that it respected “the territorial integrity of all countries”, without indicating whether Beijing accepted Russia’s claim to the Crimean peninsula or shared its recognition of separatists in the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine.
The statement marked a change in tone from Beijing.

I do believe that China will step in at some point (after talking with Russia first) and present itself as some type of "Peace Negotiator". They will try to use this to improve their position on the world stage and try to diminish the US position as the moral authority around the world.

China is that bitch arse friend that eggs on and pushes up the fight and then disappears when Russia gets jumped after throwing a weak right cross...

Fun fact: Ukraine is a bigger trading partner with China than Russia is. China buys a lot of their grain.

Chy-na will broker a peace settlement and offer a generous re-construction package to Ukraine to rebuild infrastructure and develop natural resources.....paying off all of the corrupt local oligarchs and debt trapping the country for a generation.

War is bad for business, that is no different for China's business.

China is probably pissed that Putin beat them to the invasion punch and compromised any plans they had for Taiwan.
I mean the international response bar has now been set. If China invades Taiwan, the response has to be the same, right? And economic and political sanctions on China would be a much, much bigger deal.

I hope you’re right, but for some reason, I don’t see Europe reacting the same way over Taiwan as the are over Ukraine. I just don’t see it.

Yeah, this may calm my nerves slightly since China invading Taiwan has been my biggest fear on something that could happen in the immediate future. I’m glad they’re seeing the writing on the walls. This can only be a good thing IMO.

No, and it would not be. The overwhelming majority of nations (including the United States) do not recognize Taiwan as an independent nation.

You’re right: they’ll act worse. Ukraine doesn’t affect them on a daily basis as much as Taiwan does. The semiconductors are the new oil and Taiwan is where they are all made. I don’t think war is being actively considered right now with Russia, but it would if China invaded Taiwan.

But they recognize the technology and cash flow that comes from Taiwan. Multiply this shite show in Ukraine by 10 if you want to know how bad it would get.
