MJ is probably most remembered for his game winning shot vs Utah. But IMO the shot vs Cleveland was more epic.

breakdown of the moment

Game 5 of 1989 playoffs vs Cleveland which had a loaded team(Price, Nance, Daugherty were all stars).

Had MJ released the ball at his highest point, the shot would've been blocked by Ehlo who was chasing him and eventually caught up to MJ when he pulled up. But MJ waited for Ehlo's momentum to clear himself out of the play before releasing the game winner. And we see MJ's famous flying pump fist afterward while Ehlo is on the ground demoralized. I don't recall seeing MJ more pumped up than after that shot.

No one remembers Ehlo slashing through the Bull's defense with a bad ankle to take the lead. But that's what happens when MJ is being MJ.

Got to go with MJ to win #6.

Down 3. Made shot. Steal. Made shot to win.

I remember...because I drew up the same play for my high school intramural playoff game after seeing Ehlo do it...and, FWIW, it worked for me too!

Bird steals Isiah Thomas’ inbounds attempt and sends to over to a streaking Dennis Johnson and the Celts win the playoff game in front of a Garden-full of freaking out fans. It’s gotta be THE iconic NBA play ever.

Tom Chambers dunk is pretty damn iconic too.

Honorable mention:

White Chocolate ankle-breaking The Glove Gary Payton. YouTube if u don’t know what I’m talking about.

Bird's steal against Detroit, so much had to happen for that to happen like it did. Plays like that rarely happen in these moments anymore.
