I'm confused - how can a lectern sit when it's made of wood?

Here’s the 2nd definition of podium
quote:
2 : a stand with a slanted surface (as for holding papers or a book) that a person can stand behind or near when giving a speech.

A speaker that hides behind a lecturn is less likely to know his stuff than one who reveals himself by moving to the side of the lecturn. (Based on zero scientific data but proven to be true over time)

You stand at a lectern. You stand on a podium.

Right. Bc so many people misused it. It comes from people saying “come up here to the podium” and people not knowing they meant the platform they were standing on, not the lectern.

While you’re talking about lecterns SuperSaint is plowing your wife on a podium.
