Get massages often, went to chiro, but still have a lingering shoulder pain. Pretty sure it was from a few months ago when I slipped in the tub giving my kid a bath.

Any remedies for this or do I eventually need to go to a doctor? It’s to the point is very annoying.

Good luck. Probably 20 years ago I sneezed while stepping into the shower and pinched a nerve in my shoulder. I still have trouble with it from time to time. It is never unbearable, but really acts up when I do repetitive stuff with my hands out in front of me.

That’s pretty much it. Some days it doesn’t bother me, but like you said, arms out or doing something like reaching for something bothers it.

Dry needling with a good PT.

I did think about that. The VA just sent me something about them offering that and acupuncture, may hit them up.

A chiropractor I'm thinking about visiting does that and acupuncture as well. He's part of a Spinal PT/Rehab group.

I used to have a really good chiropractor, but be passed away a few years ago. I haven't pulled the trigger on trying a new one yet.

If it’s been this long an MRI will be your best bet to see if you have any structural damage, I don’t know how the VA works but lots of insurance companies will go therapy first but if something is torn surgery might be the only remedy or just deal with the pain. I had a torn rotator cuff, laburnum, and bicep tendon, surgery worked for me and 11 years later, outside of a little arthritis I don’t have any problems with it.

Having the exact same issue for the last 3 years. Dry needling may work for you, didn’t for me, have heard more success stories than failures with it. Some things like proper stretches and a firmer mattress seem to help. Red cord therapy also seemed to help, but the stretches more than anything. Chiro is the only other option I haven’t tried.

My fiancée literally digs her fingers into my shoulder sometimes when mine acts up. It sounds painful but it’s actually very relieving at least for a moment.

My massage person does that. She’s a big girl and she finds all the knots and what not. Hurts like a bitch but I feel better after. She recommended the chiro, he’s good but I’ve only been a few times.

Don’t ever go to a chiro over a PT. Chiros don’t know shite but adjustments.

Been dealing with the same issue for a solid year. I’ve done PT along with dry needling, massage therapy, and tins unit. It’s gotten better but still hasn’t gone completely away. I’m beginning to wonder if getting a cortisone shot would help it to go away completely.

You’re on the right track. I had an injury like that that lingered for about 12-14 months. Just keep doing what you are doing. Try some heavy doses of ibuprofen for about 10-15 days. The MRI would be the best route to see if you have something more serious. Absent that give it time.

Good God man, if you have any other option, don't go to a VA Medical Center.

A good physical therapist works wonders. You can also try Steroid injections. Why ignore when you have options?

Been dealing with nerve pain going down shoulder into arm since last Sept. Did PT, needling, etc. Finally had MRI and have three buldging discs in neck. Got second opinion instead of doing surgery. Getting second injection tomorrow. Also doing traction with neck. It has helped some. Good luck it sucks.

I’m in a remote area with choice. So even if Va offers it, I could probably get it done privately. I also have private insurance for me and family.
