Last night was a stark reminder that the games that matter are won in the trenches

Joe is a phenom, and could have a HOF type career. In college he was able to handle a good not great line better, but the NFL is a different beast. Until the bengals do something about their OL it will be tough to win it all.

Looking at LSU going forward, I think this bodes well for us, because CBK understands this and is actively working on our OLine.

Trenches have to be a massive focus. Glad we got someone who gets this. Last night showed what happens when you think elite skill players is enough.

Cincy's play-calling late in the game did not for the most part allow JB to do what he does so well, create on the move. You just can't leave him in a pocket which collapses in under 2 seconds more often than not. But yea, his HOF potential is going to go south if he keeps getting abused by not having basically any protection.

Agreed. But I wonder if they didn't trust him to be on the move because of that knee.

lol I'd be more concerned about him being IN the pocket for the same reason...

Agree somewhat but that Rams pressure mixed with Joe's knee tweak made it extremely difficult.

I thought the officiating at the end was suspect as well, but your QB getting sacked that many times kills drives and takes away points.

There’s a million what ifs in that game. But IMO if you stop 2-3 of the sacks in this game, Joe pulls it out and wins.

Like being reminded to breathe

Paying a coach $ millions and being impressed that he knows this is like being reminded to hire a great coach for that kind of money.

And now we know why we have beat bama once in the last decade. Pull Joe Burrow off 2019 team and we have not beat them at all.

No. They're won by the officials.

Conversely, the Saints have proven the last few years that having an OL is great, but you also need playmakers.

The game is won, first and foremost, with QB. Drew Brees and Burrow leading teams with these deficiencies prove that.

After that, having a well balanced roster with good players is the goal. Not one particular position.

I get your point but I actually don't quite agree. The problem is that parts of their line are TERRIBLE. You don't need a dominant offensive line you just need a serviceable, above average type of one with no one that is a complete turnstile, and they are far from even that.

All that and Cincy still was in a position to tie the game and send it into OT at the end. The Rams got pressure on the edges and up the middle leaving Joe with no place to go most of the night. That was the difference in the game IMHO.

funny thing is the bengals were winning until the defense gave up a 15 play drive that milked the clock down all the way to 1:25.
