Citing reports by The WBRZ Investigative Unit and Associated Press, the National Bar Association is calling for Governor John Bel Edwards to resign over the handling of the investigation into Ronald Greene's 2019 death in police custody.
The association released the statement Thursday morning as state lawmakers announced a bipartisan committee to look into what the governor and other high-ranking officials knew about the Greene investigation and the apparent cover-up at State Police.
"In light of the recent developments brought to light by the Associated Press and WBRZ into the case of Ronald Greene, it is clear that the highest office in the State of Louisiana not only knew of Mr. Greene’s death hours after his murder, but used its heavy hand to suppress the truth instead of help bring justice to the Greene family.

Another quick apology to the family for the conduct of the State Police plus his assurance to them that a few more $$$ will be added to the settlement for his misunderstanding of the facts and then it's back to (covid) business for JBE.

Maybe. But overt and legitimate police brutality that leads to the death of unarmed civilians is going to get the microscope this day in age. And they should.
JBE knew what really happened hours after the incident. We know this because he was texting about it.
But when LSP and the Coroner issued bogus statements to the family and to the public, he said nothing. 2 years went by and he didn't say anything. Then the body cam footage (which we were told didn't exist) was released and everyone figured out what really happened.
I don't know how JBE's career survives this. It might even be criminal depending on how the cover up was coordinated.

He calls up his buds in the media and tells them to ignore it. If they don't, Edwards' bosses call them and let them know that if they want to keep their jobs, they'll stfu.
