Here's the thing. The virus will mutate. What is the difference whether people or vaccinated or already had it?
Let's say everyone just got it. The rates at which people got it would vary and the virus would mutate similarly and would still change to infect people who had it before, which is what happened.
Vaccines didn't have anything to do with it. It's just the virus trying to beat the immune system whether the immune me system is primed by vaccine or by previous infection.

He's saying that having so many people vaxed with a specific spike protein causes selection for variants that can evade that specific immune response, natural selection. The virus mutates at a given rate regardless of vax status.

No. It’s not the virus trying to beat the immune system. It’s just that viruses mutate. As you pointed out, they mutate without any regard to vaccines. What the vaccines do is eliminate the competing variants to the mutation that escapes the vaccine. The vaccines don’t encourage mutations.

I read the first half and thought it was a pretty poor explanation of immune response, to be quite honest. I will read the rest later after I’ve run an errand.
