When they choke in the NFC title game, he will be done in Green Bay.

JW is our 3rd option. You shoot for Rodgers or Wilson first.

How much would Rodgers or Wilson cost us vs Winston? If we have to gut the team for either of those 2,its not worth it. Winston will be much cheaper than both and if he gets just a little bit better in this system, Neither Rodgers or Wilson would be worth it. Unless we'd win a SB with either one and I don't see it happening.

I’m perfectly fine with giving Jameis another one or two year deal. I think he’s a playoff caliber QB but I don’t think he’s a lead us to the NFCCG or SB type QB.

I really want to see us use some draft capital and make a run at Pickett or Corral. If we draft well again and bring Jameis back, we won’t suck enough to get closer next year to take one. Get Pickett or Corral and season them for a year or two

So let me ask. If you think he’s a playoff caliber QB (and I agree FWIW), don’t you think some team like Carolina, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Denver, NY Giants (to name a few) is going to offer him a multi-year deal. Why wouldn’t they. I think it’s extremely doubtful we get Jameis for a one or two year deal. We’re going to have to commit this time to sign him.

Rodgers will probably stay in green bay.

No way is he coming to nola.

I don’t know why people are downvoting you. There’s no way we’re getting Rodgers. He’s either staying in GB, retiring or demanding a trade to Denver. No other option is realistic or makes sense any sense for him. So I think you’re right.

I think it’s actually a good thing for us if Rodgers is traded to Denver. For one, he’s out of the Conference. Two, it takes Denver out of the Wilson sweepstakes and puts us in the driver’s seat. It also lowers Wilson’s market value because there will be one fewer potential buyers out there.

If none of those things happen, you gladly resign Winston and go from there.

I agree with all that. My only concern in pursuing Wilson is it likely won’t happen quickly, as I think Seattle will be deliberate in what they do. Then we run the risk of losing Jameis if a quality offer comes his way.

Wilson is on with Peyton and Eli right now. I want this guy to be the saints QB very badly.

I agree… but more fundamentally, unless a Wilson falls into our lap this is 100% what will happen. I know I might as well ask the sun not to rise but can we stop clogging up the board with the what about Matt Ryan and Jimmy G and whatever other over the hill QB posts please?

I agree with this unless there’s a realistic way to get Wilson. Aside from that, the FA and draft class didn’t excite me at all. Give Winston another year and get him some actual WRs to work with and see how it goes.

We win 12 games with winston

It's possible. But the trade off is that in the playoffs, he gets pressured and goes into panicking gun slinger mode, throwing a crippling, soul crushing interception with 30 seconds left.

Instead - Give me a 10 win season with Russ next year, systematically picking apart a defense while riding our D to the NFC Championship.

I think the better approach would be to sign Winston to a 3 year deal and draft in 2022 for weapons and to rebuild the team. Hopefully, you get a full year to assess then decide if you need to make a play for a top QB in ‘23 when there should be a better group of QBs coming out. But, if it works out you can keep rebuilding and stay w Winston for another 8-10 years which lets the cap work itself out and keeps them from having to address the QB position for 6-8 years

Stick with him all you want but just know he is not a SB quarterback. We may make the playoffs yes, but is that good enough for us? No
We have to go after a SB quality QB or what’s the point?!

Remember that Superbowls have been won by the likes of Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson and Joe Flacco when they were the beneficiary of having great defenses. Keep our defense intact, get a JuJu in free agency, draft Treylon Burks from Arkansas as WR 2, have D Harris as WR 3. Along with AK 41, Winston might be enough at QB to take it home.

If he can work on getting the ball out a little quicker and we get him some legit receivers we could frick with crablegs at qb.

He was doing well before getting hurt. We need a WR in the worst way and it showed. The only way we grab a QB is if he won't be able to come back. Remember, there isn't a plug and play QB in this year's draft.
