I put mine in yesterday. Hope I won't be sorry for that.

Got everything in the ground! I still have an empty row for okra, and I still need to sow the cucumbers and beans. Gonna wait a little longer for that.

Also added on to the drip irrigation in order catch the raised beds.

Y'all seeing the elevated potential for tornadoes tomorrow?

I think I'll plant Saturday.

I am going to have an issue with a few of my boxes. I have 2 boxes of white and red onions and they are showing no signs of being ready for harvest. Probably going to cut into my spring plans.

On the bright side, I probably won't have to buy another onion for the rest of the year.

If a tornado spins up, the last thing I’m going to worry about is my garden.

Does the sun travel across your garden the way the rows are oriented? If not, the okra will shade the rows near it for at least half a day once they get to growing well and get tall.

Also, you can plant them close even though they get to be big plants. Mine are planted a little more than 1 ft. between them and they do fine.

Your garden space looks great and appears to be easy to maintain. Nice job.

Yes, the fence is on the west side of the garden. Sun travels directly over head going with the rows.

Thanks.

I try to apply all that I’ve learned over the years. A lot of trial and error. Lots of error…

I didn't get nearly as much rain as I expected last night. Only about .17".

Plants are going in the ground this weekend for sure, just need to carve out some time.

Same. Barely even looked like it rained this morning.

I’ve been at it for 15+ years. In the beginning it was amateur hour. I started with a few tomato plants in buckets and quickly learned about BER.

I got jalapeno plants, tomatoes plants, bean seeds, and okra seeds in the ground. Definitely forgot to save space for my bell pepper plants which are a bit behind this year. I think I will have to sacrifice my okra space because those are my least favorite to eat. I got a little too excited to plant!

I don't know where you can find Purple Hull peas seeds in Baton Rouge, but you could order some online. There is no rush to plant the seeds. You can plant them any time between March 1 and August 10 according to the Louisiana Vegitable Planting Guide. LINK Purple Hull peas grow like grass. Any southern peas seeds will.

Here's a link to an eBay seller (from whom I've bought
various seeds multiple times) who has purple hull peas seeds for sale with free shipping:

Some photos of my downsized garden. Still need to sow cucumber seeds and plant a couple of more peppers in my fence box. I’m going to put the cucumbers in the fence box and let them grow along my fence.

I always forget about eBay. I found some pinkeye purple hulls on Amazon for $6 for 50 seeds. The eBay seller appears to be a better deal. I’m going to have to remember this seller for next time.

Looking good as always.

I know it’ll be a while, but I can’t wait to see what you do at your new place.

Hey, buddy. If you’re going to be hanging out in my blackberries, can you do me a favor and chase off the mockingbirds? That would be great, thanks.
