Honey Badger and it isn't close.

I'll go a step further.

He's the greatest defensive player in college football history.

Casanova - and its not close.
TM let his personal habit cost us a national championship, so "the greatest" title is a big no.
I'd put Dorsey number two.

There’s a difference between “best” and “greatest”. Best only takes talent into account. Greatest is talent + accolades, stature, legacy, etc.

Tyrann is the best, for certain. But imho, it’s hard to call him the greatest after getting kicked out of school and missing his junior year entirely. I love the guy, but Dorsey or Casanova is the greatest for their complete body of work.

No one ever impacted the college game on defense like TM7, though. He and Suh are in their own category for defenders that I saw play.

Peterson doesn't belong in the top 4. He was great and such a special, special physical talent(maybe the best pure talent in our history)but his actual productivity and impact is vastly overrated based on his time here. At least 2(Claiborne, White), maybe 3(Greedy) had better careers and single seasons since him.

It’s impossible to judge a CB if u just use stats. Most teams avoid throwing at great CB’s, like most teams did Stingley’s (when he actually played). PP7 was the Best CB I’ve seen at LSU. He didn’t make the same type of game changing plays that TM7 did but opponents OCs avoided PP7 at ALL COST!

It’s kinda the same for D-Linemen like Dorsey as well. Most Teams double team or use a TE to chip & cut the DT. They also avoid running to the side that the DT lines up on so that usually allows the other CB’s & DL’s to feast & run up a bunch of stats.

But anyone that watched PP7 play knows damn well he was ALWAYS the Best Defensive player & more often than not he was also the best damn FOOTBALL player on the field.

Man Gabe Northern I remember being a beast as a kid
Chad Lavalais
Patrick Peterson
LaRon Landry
Corey Webster
Trevor Faulk
Bradley James
Devin White
TM7

But Dorsey was a wrecking crew getting double and tripled team until his injury. Dude was unblockable and helped the entire defense

Michael Brooks was sick in what he could do.

Tommy Casanova

Tyran Mathieu

Ramsey Dardar....he deserves some love. People forget how much of a factor he was in the early 1980's
