So let's attempt to settle this. Who IS the greatest defensive player in LSU history?

I've either attended, watched, or listened to every LSU game since 1969.
There have been many defensive greats

For me, it comes down to 4 choices.
Casanova
Dorsey
Peterson
HoneyBadger

I've never seen anyone influence a game, singlehandedly, more than Tyrann Mathieu. Could have, and should have, won The Trophy.

Honey Badger was a whole offense himself, and he was a CB/S

Mathieu was special obviously.

Healthy Dorsey was unblockable.

I’ve got you by a decade and saw a few more great players.
For a career? It is Casanova.
For the short time he played? Mathieu and it isn’t close.

Michael Brooks needs to be one of the choices because I would give him a nod for 3rd on that list.

I think Dorsey was way overrated. He had some great games, but disappeared a lot. Mathieu was the greatest and impacted every game he played in.

He played with some seriously great dline men. And was paired with Melancon. Great LB, but no comparison to Capone and Brooks.

Good list.
Michael Brooks deserves consideration, as does Devin White.

Honey badger. And to be honest it’s really not even close. Best FOOTBALL player I’ve ever witnessed. The turnovers he caused TDs he scored and returns he had in the biggest of moments.

Honey Badger was one of the most disruptive defensive players I've ever seen in 2011. His 2010 season capping off with the bowl against A&M wasn't a shabby appetizer either. It's him.
