True. It's also true that O assembled the best team in LSU history whether people like to admit it or not. Doesn't mean he shouldn't have been fired. He won a natty and lost his mind. It's ok to acknowledge both.

This whole thread is based on the false premise that O was the only person who could have gotten Chase to LSU.
Had Ed not been hired, it is very possible that whoever had gotten the job could have made a connection with Chase and his family and landed him too.

People also forget that Jimmy Burrow told Ensminger at a JUCO they were both recruiting that Joe might be looking to transfer.
Burrow was going to Cincinnati before Orgeron convinced him to choose LSU.

I get that and if you want to credit O for landing Chase that’s fair.
But the idea that he was the only person in the world who could have possibly got Chase to LSU is ridiculous

You mean another more accomplished and qualified LSU coach couldn't have recruited a player from 70 miles away from campus? Or landed a transfer recruit for whom LSU was a perfect fit?
It's an exercise in idiocy to make such a claim.
If Orgeron was so damn good, why is he fired and LSU is playing Tuesday with less than half a roster?
