Why get the flu shot if you’re not elderly, sick, or work with the elderly and sick?

I don’t get why everyone else dutifully lines up for the shot. First, it’s hit or miss whether they correctly guess the flu variant that year. Second, the flu isn’t that bad. It’s just a few days of discomfort. You’re getting chemicals injected into you just to avoid a runny nose, aches, and fever. Let your body do its job. Refuse the flu and Covid jabs.

I have ZERO flu shots in my days, don't plan on starting now....and only had the flu once.

People with healthy immune systems are good to go....FLU, COVID, .....

Same here. I had the flu in the late 90’s. It sucked, kept me down for a few days. After the fever broke, I felt like a million dollars. Haven’t gotten it since and never had a shot.

At least the flu shot isn’t a genetic experiment which might kill you.

wrong. it's pretty bad. a flu shot is very simple to get. even if it's a 25% chance of working, it's well worth it, assuming there's not some other wicked stuff in them. if you go to a primary dr., you don't even have to wait long to get a flu shot. my response is assuming you aren't being sarcastic.

I’ve had it before. It’s not bad if you’re healthy, and it’s not worth getting injected with a chemical cocktail. I agree it’s bad for the elderly and those with serious health issues.

My story too! When I did get the flu, it was no worse than a cold. I wouldn't have known I had the flu, except my doc did a flu test.

Spoken like a Jenny McCarthy fan or mommy blogger.

No GMOS!
Aspartame gives you cancer!

I’m not elderly, and the flu sucks. Vaccine risk is negligible. Typically zero side effects. At worst it doesn’t work. At best I don’t get the flu or have a milder course. Easy decision.

Spoken like someone who does as they are told. Oh no, I’m scared of some discomfort. Government, please inject me with your stuff that may or may not work. I don’t want to get fever. It might interrupt my binge watching of leave it to beaver.

They do their best. It varies between 20 and 60%.

This is just stupid. The flu is severe - and can be for people of all ages.

It was only 4 years ago that the State of Alabama declared a State of Emergency for the flu.

In the case you DO get infected, the shot is still a potent anti-viral.

Getting a flu shot annually is just common sense.

There are actual studies that show the greater % of the population that get the flu shot, the lower the deaths the elderly and infants there are. Basically, when more people get the shot in a given population, the amount of virus goes down for everybody.

That is what happens when you have vaccines actually work, unlike the covid injection

It could just be that acuity is lower due to the anti-viral effect.

Covid vaccines work spectacularly.

I’ve had the flu 3 times -age 17,30 and about 45.Every time I felt like I was going to die.The last time was the worst,I was weak as a kitten for 2 months.Little exertion I would break out in a sweat.
I have taken flu shots every year since and haven’t had it again. Now 71.

I haven’t had the Covid shot.I may take the Novavax if it ever gets approved.

It really is crazy how this whole anti vax thing has come full circle.

Some of these people on the board now are literally Jenny McCarthy.

Not only is it a no to “experimental gene therapy,” but it’s a no to Gardasil and the flu shot calling them “dangerous chemicals”

And anyone who says the flu is “no big deal” hasn’t actually had the flu. It makes grown arse men feel like total shite

Because having the flu sucks for most people who get it and they want to reduce their chances of feeling like shite for a few days.

The flu absolutely sucks

Had it twice before age 30, both times out for a week.

If they had a shot that was more reliable I'd take it every year

Same, although to be fair, I have also never had a flu test. I catch a bug every 3-4 years perhaps, but rarely anything bad enough to miss work (save those sick days for when I need a Ferris Bueler day). I have been surrounded by a house full of it (or I assume was it as I never saw the need to ever get kids or hubby tested) taking care of them all, and stayed good.
