LA Fishing Blog-opinion?

I'm new to La marsh fishing and I'm thinking about signing up for Devin's fishing blog site. Does anyone here have an opinion? He's charging $15/month for his tips. (At that price a man can afford to make a mistake)

I wasnt aware he had a monthly sub. I signed up years ago for the lifetime deal when it was $100 or so. He has some good info that you can apply to everywhere you would probably fish.
That being said, if you pick some general areas to concentrate on and ask questions of people that you know who fish there or on a site like this, you will probably get most of the same info and/or better.
Plenty of knowledgeable people on here who are usually willing to help.
What are you going to be fishing for and what areas?

Yes it’s worth it to you to follow him . He gives good info about everything a beginner needs to know. You can then apply these tips to wherever you choose to fish. Good luck fishing

Thanks, I probably can use that myself. I've been fishing a long time but just recently got a boat that I trust for salt water so I am a virtual noob out there on my own.

My friend subscribed and he liked it. His free stuff is very helpful so I’m guessing the paid stuff will be as well.

My brother-in-law and I have been trying the Rigolets area fishing for specked trout and red fish. We went yesterday and caught one sheephead out in Lake Bourne. We also tried the Wall and the marsh bayous and were skunked using a silver and yellow or blue tailed artificial lures.

It’s worth it and I’m pretty sure it’s 12$ a month

Save your money and just ask us the questions, if we don’t know the answer we’ll just make up something. If it’s on the internet, it has to be true.

His fishing trip reviews are very thorough and useful if you are fishing a new area.

I don't have a sub to LAFB but I did get a boat just under a year ago and let me tell you, the transition from Kayak to Boat was TOUGH.
I know how to find fish, read conditions, etc. But boat placement, correct cast locations, how to cover a spot, etc.
That was the learning curve, on top of learning how to captain. I considered LAFB at the time but ultimately passed, sometimes I wish I hadn't because those captaining lessons were tough to learn through trial and error.

I tried the subscription thing out for a month and went through some of the courses. It was a lot more beginner level stuff than I was expecting so I cancelled after the first month. Since you said you're new to LA marsh fishing, you'll get a lot more out of it than I did. If you don't like it, just cancel after a month.
I do enjoy Marsh Man Masson's youtube channel. You'll definitely pick up some pointers there and his new videos are usually uploaded within a couple days of filming, so its pretty current info on what was working. And the underwater pool videos are pretty cool for seeing how different baits move/sound underwater.

I’m the same. My friends and I launch of of east pearl or the rigolets marina and we always set out looking for specs and reds but usually end up just catching a lot of bass (we’re river fisherman). I see a lot of posts in different sites about locations such as the wall, the point, the bridge, etc but we have no idea where any of that stuff is.

Hospital Wall
Hospital Wall
Often avoided by local fishermen in fear of damaging their propellers or worse, the hospital was at one time a part of a small community that helped support Fort Pike, as well as local fishermen and trappers. What is not well known is that the foundation used to support the hospital was a part of Fort Petite Coquilles (Little Shells), which was an old Spanish Fort that existed during the Battle of New Orleans. The small fort was built on top of a shell midden (ancient shell mound from Native Americans) and was believed to be able support the weight of the structure. As time passed, erosion and soft mud slowly caused the fort to sink into the lake.

What bridge are they talking about?
L&N train bridge is on the east end of the rigolets where it meets Lake Borgne. The trestles is the train bridge to the west of I-10 and Hwy 11. Those are the 2 most popular bridges to fish in the area

I cannot stand how he talks. He does have some great basic concepts. Get the information you need in the first month or so and then cancel.

I admit that I enjoy watching the videos, but these guys never give any idea where they are actually fishing.
