Grabbed these out of the safe and thought I'd post a couple of pics - I'm no photographer for sure - first is the Radiomir "Black Seal" PAM 0183, and the second a Luminor Marina Automatic PAM 0164 - it is set apart by the unusual for panerai dial and the fact that the case is brushed and bezel polished, which is unique amongst the 44 mm Marinas. For reference, my wrist is 6.5". I think the 45 mm Radiomir wears a little smaller than the 44 mm Luminor.

DM me on instagram @ Non_Carborundum_Est if you are interested. No B&P, has original Panerai deployant with brown gator deployant strap, black gator deployant strap and rubber deployant strap (all OEM). There is a shot of the watch with the back open showing the movement on that insta page.

I have a 176 that fits really well on my 7” wrist.
I love the simplicity of Pam dials.

Where does one purchase Blancpain? A large, coastal city?

I know DeBoulle in Dallas has Blancpain, or at least they used to - haven't been in there in a couple of years.

You can look up authorized dealers on their website

Will do. I know some manufacturers aren’t fond of e-commerce or shipping items

Omega sells everything on their website. They seem to be moving toward eliminating their AD network and selling exclusively online or through their own boutiques.

There are quite a few Omegas that I am fond of. I loved my 300 coaxial seamaster. Probably had it from 2012-2018

I almost gave myself a Speedmaster for Christmas. I didn't pull the trigger but I will eventually. I think a real nice three watch collection would be a Speedmaster, a Rolex GMT Master and a Fifty Fathoms or a JLC Polaris

I like Panerai, probably too much. The brand is divisive and the watches are definitely marmite.
As for the 1312 and 1661 I would choose the 1312 especially for a first Panerai, though I still think the 111 is the "best" first Panerai.
As for the 1661 it has the same movement as the 1312 so you are paying the premium for the Carbotec case. While I do like carbon cases I don't like Paneria's layered version as much as the forged Carbon like for example AP uses. The 1661 is a bigger chunkier beast than the 1321 but will be lighter.
My choice would be the 1312 with the slimmed down proportions from its predecessor the 312. It also has more of the classic Luminor look and the cash saved buys a lot of nice straps which is part of the whole Panerai experience. A big part of my reasoning for the 1312 is you can put literally any strap on it and it will work and completely change the look.
The P9010 movement in both watches (you can see it in the 1312) is a solid in-house movement with a solid 3-day power reserve and one thing I like about it is the independent quick-adjust hour hand. Nice when you switch timezones or if you are a homebody it is still nice twice a year when DST comes and goes. It is one of the neat tricks that reminds one it isn't just a run-of-the-mill ETA for the price.
ETA corrected my reference dyslexia!

1321 over the 1312?

For in-person shopping from LA, you are going to be looking at Dallas or ATL. They have very few dealers in the US, I bought mine from the Tourbillion in SF and I think they also carry them in the Vegas boutique if you are a Vegas guy. Outside of Dallas and Chicago, they are pretty much east coast and west coast. I am surprised they don't have a dealer in Houston.
