Recently bought a Basscat Eyra that I’m still trying to learn to drive, but even when I get there I’ll be looking at about 81-82 tops.
Now back in the day ( 79-80 timeframe) I rode with a Mercury Master mechanic that had a hi-po Black Max on an Allison XR 2002 that was probably a 90-95 mph boat. We hit 85 in a blink but trim was acting up so he never got to go 100%.
That was probably the first bass boat in Ga that had a hotfoot. LOL ( He commandeered it out of a used SST OR Mod U class racing boat ;)

My boat isn’t fast to your standards, but it’s an 1851 custom aluminum “duck boat” with a 115 sho tiller handle. For its “class”, it’s fast. I couldn’t own a slow boat. When I get a bass boat, it’s either going to a bullet, rocket or hopefully an Allison xb-21

Sounds like you need to look into some of these TX bay boats. 85-90+ in the Simmons bay boats.

i had a 18' skeeter with a 150 hpdi yamaha. It could hit mid 70's with just me in it. to me that was more than fast enough.

Chine walk scares me, so I never get the last 5 mph out of my set up, and I prefer a 4 blade over 3 for mid range and turns. Right now, I am good with 65.

My buddies dad had an Allison that would run up in the 90's. Scared the shite out of me every time I rode in it. I get the appeal of it, but it aint for me. Yall are wild.

I dont really know why but I've been intrigued by fast boats since I was a kid. I started with modifying my first flatboat with a 40 horse yamaha all the way through winning a championship drag racing outboards with the DSRA. I have an Allison xb2002 with a short 200. Getting older I rarely stretch it out and have sold the race boat. Still love to help others with their race boats and just being around them.

Fast in a boat definitely has different meanings depending on boat.
65mph chine walking in a 16-17ft boat down a skinny bayou will make you shite your pants.
80mph in a 21ft skeeter fx in an open lake behind a console you could let the steering wheel go.

25 mph at 4 in the morning with a spotlight will do the same thing.

My current boat will do 67 with a 4 blade prop. Not fast by fast boat standards but I hardly ever get it up there anyway.

Been in a speedboat that got to around 110. It was a 47’ fountain.
Guy that I was with set the world speed record for a v-bottom a few years later.

My full tunnel SCB will do low 90's with a 300, would run triple digits if I put a 450 on it like Eric is putting on the Sig's now but I'm good where I'm at, at least until I get passed in a tournament
I fill way safer in it than the pad boats I ran years ago in the upper 70's, gotten to old to be jerking on the wheel to keep em up on the pad.

I have a 25ft speedboat with a 400 hp I/O that runs about 70 with the loud arse exhaust that I spent way too much on to take out 4-5 times a year

A guy I know has one of those eliminator jet boats like this
He has nitrous in it too. I rode it in it on some narrow arse bayou/oxbow lake maybe 150 yards wide and deepest point was 6 feet. Hit 125 with the nitrous. Cypress trees zipping by in a blur. I will never ever do that again
