High Fence

Long story short. My family owns some land in Holmes County, MS. Have been hunting there for over 40 years (I’m 30). It’s a family camp and we have about 800 acres and have always gotten along with our hunting neighbors.
Recently is girl married into a family that has 90 acres right against us on 3 sides. She’s got over 10k followers on Instagram and all that but she’s attempting to high fence right on the property line and bring in exotics.
We’ve always gotten along with the owners until a year ago when she came about. So what do we do?
Cut the fence on our property line? Let it go and have a bunch of idiots come in to shoot whatever right next to us?
I’ve suggested cutting the fence around 50 yards that is technically on our property and shoot whatever they bring in as long as it’s on our side

Is the fence up yet? If not, explain the property line to them.

It’s partially up on their side as of now but the copy of their plans is coming over the line

High fencing 90 acres? Wow…

There’s a minimum acreage requirement for enclosures in MS. I believe it’s 300 acres. Talk to MDWFP

This. Plus you have to have the plans on file and receive a permit. If they have less than 300 acres then they most definitely do not have the permit for a high fence.

with your 1.25 square mile of property, the new owner of 90 acres located on 3 sides of your property has an estimated 3.75 miles long property and maybe wide enough for a road or 4 wheeler.
kinda of a tricked up high fence proposal

I don’t particularly like high fence operations, but why would you care what she does with 90 acres? If she’s the type that’s gonna shoot anything, I’d be helping her build the fence.

Not sure why you wouldn’t tell them the plans show the fence on your property before the fence gets built.

I would tell them the fence is on your property and they should move it or they will have to once it’s resurveyed.
If they are making a pen what’s the worst that could happen even if mdwf lets them shoot everything like they do for a pen?! It’s what 10-12 deer best case in 90acers.
I would plant my foodplots along the side of said pen and have a nice shooting lane.

Maybe I am not reading it right, but what is the problem?
Does their fence come on your side?
Just upset that this will be next door?
The fence is on the line and not so many feet on their side?
???

I think we need an illustration of this because I’m having a hard time figuring out how their 90 acres can close in 3 sides of your 800.

And I would recommend avoiding cutting someone else’s fence

Agree. The math isn’t making sense to me how 90acres can surround 800 acres on 3 sides.
Of course I did take Calc 1 three times

I can see it , if the 90 is more or less a cut out of the bigger tract, but would be better said that our 800 surrounds his 90 on 3 sides

Pretty sure you better not cut the fence. If anything comes out of that fence (animals/disease) you will be to blame.
Talk to a game warden like some others have mentioned to see if it is legal. I would imagine they can’t fence in exotics/bred deer on the property line unless they can stop trees from falling on both sides of the line. If you are worried about the property line then call a GW and a lawyer.
P.S. I would post a link to her IG account, give it 24 hours then delete the thread.

My guess is your 800 acres isn’t square, and you have a “peninsula” shaped area where her property surrounds yours in 3 sides. But you said the fence will be on the property line. I’m not sure what’s wrong with that.
My advice is if you really have a problem with it, follow the advice given regarding the minimum acreage for a high fence.

He didn’t write it clearly but I take it to mean his property surrounds hers on three sides, with the fourth probably road frontage. In my experience those are the neighbors I wish I could fence off
