Witcher season 2 middle ground thread. Now full book/upcoming season spoilers

Since my readers only thread didn’t get very much interest at all I take
That to mean most watchers of
The show are casuals direct to netflix(no hate just a description) or fans of the game (95% solely Witcher 3) so I thought a middle group thread might be good. I do have a full on readers thread that’s chock full of spoilers and potential theory’s if that interest you. I imagine this being fine covered by this thread are things like the massive amount of character and lore dump coming in season 2, if you thought 1 was bad and confusing I can’t count 10-12 extremely significant characters who will we brought into this season, although perhaps with rolls dialed back, but episode tiles themselves. Triss already seen where she should be training Ciri with the Witcher’s. I will continue to have hearty in depth dialogue in the readers thread even if the trailer has spoiled a good bit already. ITT if you need some Witcher game backstory light character backstory like who I’m sure you’ll ask 10-15 times this coming season feel free to ask. Specially is familiar yourself with characters like Djkatra, Phillipa, Falka and the whole redanian civil war she started as this season looks to play heavy into radovids younger years and the rises of the lodge

I have not read the books or played the games. I have watched Season 1 three times though. I'm looking forward to Season 2.

Why not call it the "Banana Tiger" thread?

I did a second watch once I got to the end of Season 1 to pull my head out of my arse because of all the time hops.
Made so much more sense once I realized the order of events.
I just finished another rewatch yesterday so I would remember everything from season 1 when season 2 drops in a few days.

Is this out yet or is this pre-emptive? I forgot the date

I’ve only played the games (played Witcher 3 and the DLCs for about 6 months) saw season 1 3 times and watched the anime Prequel Witcher movie.

Why are you afraid of paragraphs, man?

What did I start with my GOT MG Thread? Now every show based on a book gets one.

I enjoyed the GoT middle ground thread. As a Comatose Kal Drago it was nice to be able to ask specific questions about stuff shown on the show I didn’t quite catch. Like when I kept calling the red priest guy Thanos instead of his real name.

Am I the only one who just now noticed that the actor who plays Stregobor is THRAWN?!!

I was typing hastily on mobile as there is a massive amount to cover. Intended the give the book readers thread a nice police up tomorrow. Tbh the more I think about they completely fricking butchered season 1 in the sense they gave clear indicator of massive end game spoilers imo, they made it way too much they’re yen show and I even like what they did with her character, ciri wasn’t needed until season 2, the politics kings queens and other organizations like the lodge should’ve been given the back story it’s due. If you wanted season 1 to be one massive 8 episode backstory which could could play out well in years to come, go out out. I have a feeling this season will be pretty exceptional. First episode not withstanding which all who are known to the books with be stoked by it, the episode names are clever and seem to be on point.

If they stay even remotely true and they have shown they definitely will this season will turn more into a political epic a bit like game of thrones however it’s not as ambiguous and it doesn’t eventually get stupid for stupid sake.Geralt isn’t the all power being either. He loses. A fair amount.

I watched an interview with director yesterday. She anticipates 7 seasons due just on the massive amount of content they have available, and said she has no desire or need ro create her own vision because the material is already good enough.
Also from. Watching HC I doubt he would be okay at all with going in their own direction.
He says his main focus is trying to give geralt his credit as having more depth with his knowledge and being more than just an angry grunting wrecking ball.
The only time they will take any liberties are with side characters from the books who really don't have any depth to their written story.
I will probably set an alarm.
Should be available at 3am EST tomorrow. Sucks there are only 8 episodes.

Idk man. I’m not one of these book purist I did enjoy the show and thought it has good moments and ideas. Showing soden hill was a good idea since it was never more than a reference in the book where we know many of our mage friends almost died. Making Cahir way too evil is a bad idea, I just don’t get it did they misread he’s not a villain. Changing magic and how it worked I’d guess will turn out a bad idea. To some good things they kept the general macro politics in tact, I liked they gave some clarity to yen’s backstory just wish they didn’t make her show in all but name. Ciri wasn’t needed in this season every scene could’ve been cut with her and made other ones better. Show the fall of cintra in season 2 or flashback. Geralt was perfect. The girl who played yenfri should’ve been triss. I liked they teased the series bad and even gave a slight nod for those in the know. All in all in felt like it was a collection of short stories pieces together as best as possible to give a coherent backbone for a show. And totally botching Geralt and ciri in brocklon and then the ending hug they ripped straight out the book end without a single hint of one of the most emotional book endings ever. I expect this season to be much better but way more complex. Not from how they shot it but my count they need to introduce at least faction wise more nilfgard maybe not emhyr yet, redania, kaedwan, kaer morhen, sco’atail, the lodge, way more temaria and the 20 or so very important people in them and I’m being on the short end.

You’ll know most of the main players. Definitely not all of them and not all of the current politics shite fest. You will know enough to pass easily and if a name gives you pause it’s likely lore
