Moving back to Louisiana. Lawn grass recommendations?

I am building a home in Broussard. I have over an acre of land and wondered what lawn grass to put down.
I have lived in Texas most of the 32 years I have been away and love Bermuda. It is pretty durable and I like it better than St Augustine. I do know St. Aug will over run it if given a chance.
What do you recommend?
St. Aug, Bermuda or Zoysia? I know nothing about Zoysia.

Palisade Zoysia gets my vote. I’ve had centipede, St.Aug, Celebration bermuda, and now Zoysia. To me, the zoysia looks better and has less weed pressure.

This will end up driving your decision. Do you plan to sod the full acre? If not, your only choice is Bermuda.
My first choice is Palisade Zoysia as well. However, it’s only available as sod. St. Aug is also sod only.
Bermuda is a good choice, but also requires full sun. If you’ve got a lot of shade, you’ll have to use something else.

I shook the etch-a-sketch and had my yard re-graded. I'm leaning towards zoysia but good god, the sod is going to kill me. Curious if seeding is a viable option. I need 18 pallets. The cost delivered is going to run me close to $5k. (Not installed...)
My only seeding experience is my current battle to get my rye thick enough with the rain pushing my seeds around. That said, the germination on rye is super simple.

I was planning to sod the front. Can you plant Zoysia plugs?
I would imagine sodding the entire property would be in the 10K range.
The yard gets full sun except a small area on the right side of the property. I guess sodding the front and seeding the back with Bermuda is my best option.

You can plug it but it will take a while to fill in. Zoysia doesn't spread like bermuda. If you sodded it is going to be closer to $16k and that is if you do it yourself. If I wanted grass on the whole acre I'd seed or hydroseed bermuda.

Is there any good resource for how to seed zoysia? I'd be curious about yard preparation and timing for our area. (Prairieville) When I was getting the yard regarded, I had a few quotes on hydroseed. They both wanted to do bermuda and the cost was nearly the same as the uninstalled sod cost. I wasn't impressed with the idea for that cost.

The only zoysia seed I've seen for sale on a regular basis is Zenith and I don't know of anyone that has gotten a full lawn from bare dirt.
Unless there is a big difference in prices between Louisiana and Texas hydroseeding should be a lot cheaper. I got a 4,000 sq ft lawn hydroseeded for a customer of mine for $700. Sod would have been more than double.

When I was trying to decide on seeding or hydro seeding, the quote I got was $0.11/sqft. The people I got the quote from were late replying or I would have done it. I wish I would have hydro seeded because it would have been much easier. I ended up wasting a bunch of seed by my lawn looks great now. I went with princess 77 Bermuda. It requires more maintenance but looks and feels great. I wanted a good turf for my boys to run around on in the backyard.

Broad bladed zoysia like Pallisades is a great grass. I’m more partial to the fine bladed variety though. I have Zeon zoysia. The stuff is super thick and feels like green carpet. Fine bladed varieties are harder to find and typically more expensive unfortunately. Also zoysia usually has to be sodded, u can’t seed it.
