While that is paramount,

Louisiana Revised Statutes (L.R.S.) 2016
Title 14. Criminal Law
§19. Use of force or violence in defense
A.
(1) The use of force or violence upon the person of another is justifiable under either of the following circumstances:
(a) When committed for the purpose of preventing a forcible offense against the person ... provided that the force or violence used must be reasonable and apparently necessary to prevent such offense.
There is no indication that the punch was to prevent a forcible offense against Roid.
The force used was not reasonable.
If an old man is walking toward you (especially a large built guy) and even taunting you, without any reasonable appearance of being able to carry out the threat, you don't have carte blanche to knock his lights out.

Once again, you don't have to use a bondsman. You bond out and you get whatever money you put up back when you appear.
The point he’s making is that most people do not have $300K CASH lying around, not your 401K, stock portfolio ect ect, $300k Cash. The courts mandate that the bond has to be paid in full. If Suarez does not have the full $300K in cash to pay directly to the court he would inevitably have to go through a bondsman and pay their fee of (10-12%) of the $300K in order to get out. That 10-12% of the $300K he will not get back. If he skips court a bounty hunter would be sent to track him down to take him into custody and back to jail with another charge of bond jumping to be possibly applied to the existing charges.

So when will we know what his bail is?

So a good defense attorney has to cross of bunch of northshore moms who were getting their nails done at the Viet nail salon and drinking white wine at Cafe Rani at 1:30 on a Monday. Again, not an insurmountable task
good lord, have you ever been to court at st tammany? The Judges have a Judge Dredd mentality. They don't give a frick what the lawyer says 90% of the time.

You aren’t correct about the bond. When you use a bondsman, the money you pay them goes to 3 places, them, the jail, and basically their insurer. If the guy skips bail, then they have 6 months to get him. If they don’t, then the insurer pays the full bond amount.

I'm saying you can create some reasonable doubt and probably convince some ADA to let this go on a misdemeanor and probation.
Some here are sending him straight to the Angola showers for 20 years
If the old man dies or is paralyzed or brain damaged he will likely end up in Angola

Assuming the old man makes it out of all this alive, he’ll be advised to get a CT scan. If there’s any damage that can be found, Suarez will be absolutely finished. The way the old man tensed up at the end of the video was disturbing as he hit the pavement. As medical bills keep piling up on behalf of the old man, Suarez will be on the hook for all that as well, aside from an inevitable civil judgement against Suarez.

I saw that too. It can be a bad indicator of neurological damage

Yeah. Bail bondsmen don't have hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars to tie up while awaiting your trial. It's their surety company that puts it up.
If you flee, your bondsman is on the hook to them, and they will hunt you down just like a dog.

Only got to page 8 and there's more "marked unreadable" posts than I've seen all year.

He might have trouble pulling the payment for that together.

Wow
I’m guessing social media added some gravity to this story and influenced the judges decision
Any word on who the defense attorney is?

That was 20 years ago. This dude wasn’t part of that deployment
He just got back 3 months ago. He deployed with the 256th INF BDE. He was an ALO for the 256th.
They were in Iraq, Kuwait, Jordan and Syria.
The unit in Hammond deployed in ‘17-18 and was in Turkey, Iraq, Jordan, Syria and Kuwait.

That’s ridiculous if true. Is the old guy dead?

He 100% knew he was physically outmatched but like others have mentioned - he stepped up anyways and was not going to let this man verbally abuse/bully the women
Old guy was a dummy for following the roid head back to the van and he paid the price for it. He fricked around and he found out. When he got involved the roid head was not a physical threat to anyone. I am not defending the roid head by any means, he deserves whats coming, but old man should have never got involved. I hope he is ok
