Yep, they had recent tornados so wanted storm rated rooms.
I sheltered in the facility basement while that laplace storm hit a few years back. Easily could have hit us.
Filled reinforced Cinder block walls, poured deck floor above with some additional reinforcement.
Makes sense.
We've done some community center/emergency shelters but nothing within a standard building. Of course, most of our project sites are in South Louisiana so less need.
As soon as I typed that last sentence I remembered that before I started working here they had done a house for one of the Little Debbie heiresses in Arkansas. She demanded a panic room/shelter and that thing can withstand a bomb.

I don’t know of a single warehouse that has this… the protocol is to use the restrooms.
I understand that, but this is one of the wealthiest businesses in the world.
So you admit and acknowledge the standard industry practice but you feel like they should do something else because they make a lot of money?

If you have Amazon type of money you need to be held accountable
So you are saying Amazon should be held to a higher standard because they have more money?
Are you a moron?
There are standards irrespective of money. If those standards are met, tough shite.
Life isn't fair and bad shite happens to good people.
Everyone one of your answers are just so rainbow and unicorns.
If the standard is that people go to the bathrooms in time like this and the bathrooms were built to specs if there were any, well they did their responsibility.
If you think Bezos looks at the plans of each of his warehouses, I suspect you are wrong.
You do understand the ideas of negligence and such, correct? Or are you making whatever rules you want?

Stupid as hell. Going to lsu and being an alabama fan is all one has to know.

So you want a precedent that forces all business owners who build new buildings to include storm shelters for their employees? Are you a small government proponent as well?
Hot Damn! Mickey with a brutal head-shot!
We will make a deplorable out of you yet!

You have no idea a tornado is one hour away. None at all.
Let me clarify. Not 1 hour before a tornado but 1 hour before a possible cell that could contain a tornado. They knew the high level of chances for tornadoes ahead of time. So hey these storms are about 1 hour away and have a high chance of having a tornado so find shelter.

I remember the cricket noises in the media when it was discovered that New Orleans had squandered the money that was supposed to have been used to reinforce their levees.

The majority of warehouses don’t have storm shelters dumbass!

Maybe if the folks weren't such tight asses building these warehouses then more lives could have been saved. They are death traps.

Nope. Mom and pop factory owner vs the 2nd richest man in the world.
What else should he be forced to pay for since he has so much money?

We didnt have them at school and the government can print their own money.
Maybe we should go after them first.

He should cut his eyes out and give them to someone who cant see.

I use to work for a Walmart DC and they won't let anyone leave if it is a bad storm.

Of course they will

Incredibly stupid take.

So hey these storms are about 1 hour away and have a high chance of having a tornado so find shelter.
So now we are shutting down all commerce in every area where there’s an elevated risk of severe weather in the next sixty minutes?
Sounds like a super practical policy. I’m sure it’ll work out well.

One of worst ones to be in.

That has more to do with insurance companies tolerance for risk than it does actual liability. Of course they’re going to cut a check.
