American farmers can't ship food abroad because foreign shippers won't take it

Fox Business
Our federal government is a piece of shite for allowing this to happen.

But many American farmers are dealing with essentially the opposite of that supply chain crisis – they're having a hard time getting their goods out of the country to foreign buyers.
"It's the destruction of millions of dollars in value," Rep. Dusty Johnson, R-S.D., told FOX Business Wednesday. He was the chief sponsor of the Ocean Shipping Reform Act that passed the House Wednesday by a 364-60 vote.
Among the provisions in the bill, Johnson said the most important has to do with Asian ocean carriers that "unfairly discriminate against American cargo." He said that they will offload foreign goods in U.S. ports then simply sprint back to Asia so they can bring more goods back to the U.S., rather than taking the time to fill up with American goods to sell abroad.

he problem exists broadly across the U.S. agriculture industry, particularly in states thar rely on West Coast ports to ship their goods. The president of a California agricultural association told the Associated Press that 80% of shipments abroad were canceled in October. And the contracts that U.S. ag producers are forced to sign tend to encourage that type of behavior from shipping companies, Johnson said.
"Right now we've got five major ocean carriers, they're all foreign flagged, and frankly their interests are not very well aligned with the interests of this country," Johnson said.
"Unfortunately because it's an oligopoly.... you've got to take it or leave it if you're an American ag shipper," he added. "The terms often say that liquidated damages for you canceling a container is $100. Well there can be $100,000 of goods in each container."
Our federal government is a piece of shite for allowing this to happen.

Our ruling class and large corporations have been destroying our industries for at least 40 years now. This isn’t shocking.

You can say this about every issue that faces our country.
Biden/Harris do nothing, that is the strategy...

When their citizens get hungry enough, they'll take it.

Seriously..what happens if we stop using China for supply?
We couldn’t go to war with them if we wanted to. Half our country is built with parts they provide.
Free economy is good but not when it is owned by somebody you have no controls over.

Or maybe they are simply pushing back against an administration that is allowing all these ships to sit docked outside ports waiting to offload?
How much stuff has spoiled or what else because it's just sitting off the coast?
Someone is playing politics with this shipping thing

I thought years ago, when textile mills began outsourcing to foreign countries, that it was bad business for America to stop manufacturing our own necessities. I was in college then. Seems college age me had more sense than our elected leaders.

True free trade means an absence of government restrictions. “Free Trade” to the permanent reigning elite means “managed trade.” Global “Free Trade” has come at a tremendous cost and is far from free.
If authentic free trade ever looms on the policy horizon, there’ll be one sure way to tell. The government/media/big-business complex will oppose it tooth and nail. We’ll see a string of op-eds “warning” about the imminent return of the 19th century. Media pundits and academics will raise all the old canards against the free market, that it’s exploitative and anarchic without government “coordination.” The establishment would react to instituting true free trade about as enthusiastically as it would to repealing the income tax….
In truth, the bipartisan establishment’s trumpeting of “free trade” since World War II fosters the opposite of genuine freedom of exchange. The establishment’s goals and tactics have been consistently those of free trade’s traditional enemy, “mercantilism” — the system imposed by the nation-states of 16th to 18th century Europe….
Whereas genuine free traders look at free markets and trade, domestic or international, from the point of view of the consumer (that is, all of us), the mercantilist, of the 16th century or today, looks at trade from the point of view of the power elite, big business in league with the government….

Why do I have a feeling this is all coordinated. When people don't have food they will do anything (bow down to their masters).
Great reset in full swing

Can’t help but wonder if part of the game is to force farm forfeitures so corporations - foreign & domestic - can continue to buy up crop land.

I immediately thought of a very simple policy that would fix this export shipping immediately. All our government has to do it incentivize export shipments to the shippers and how this could be done is through port fees.
Look at this the same as a one way ticket with an airline vs a round trip. Increase the port fees for ships to dock and then give the shippers a credit for port fees when they load export shipments. The increased port fees would be specifically allocated to domestic shippers and producers of perishable goods.
Problem solved. If those ships want to haul empty ships back to China then we just have to make that an unprofitable venture.

What’s as bad is when farmers go broke they cannot replant enough to then supply Americans needs

My suggestion: Not unload any of those ships off the coast and send them back full of their own crappy junk.
Most farmers have storage for the crop and they can store it.
Start manufacturing back up here to make better goods than foreign crap.

Destruction of our middle class and business owners is being done on purpose. Once the economy collapses, we will be next to the illegals as equals looking up to DC as the Marxists claim they can save us all by rolling in their new authoritarian regime.
