I am confused on Obama's tax plan, can anyone explain it in laymans terms. Someone told me that if you make 100,000 per year Obama,s plan would take about 40,000 of it in taxes. This can't be, who knows the truth?

In Layman's terms, don't vote for Obama.

Obama's plan is to redistribute wealth...in ohter words take it from the earners and give it to the lazy and stupid

Not sure if you would be taxed 40% at the 100K level, but yeah if you make decent money it will be "redistributed" to people that make less.
Basically more welfare is all it is for the lazy smucks.

They take 33,000 of it all ready, how much different is this from what is going on now.
And no, I am not voting for Obama. I just don't understand the outrage from the gov taking another 7k a year or $270 a check for those of us that get paid every two weeks.
I work the first 1/3 of the month for the government.

I agree that it's already outrageous. But, that's a HUGE increase.

That's 7K that could be going towards retirement, kid's college fund or getting out of debt. I can see why people would want to keep it.

No this is not the case at all.... if you make $100K, you will probably see a small cut under Obama. I say probably as he keeps moving his numbers on things like cap gains etc.....
Also be wary of articles that show the effect fo the tax cuts. Most compare to current legislation, not current tax status. In other words, when people say McCain would give a large tax cut to the wealthy, that is not based upon a cut from what it is today, it is based on todays rate 'expiring' and returning to the old rates. By keeping it the same, they translate that as to a 'tax cut', eventhough year on year their would be none.
The same holds for Obama... the promotion is he will cut taxes for all those below $250K when in fact the lions share of the 'cut' for those above $100K is an extension of the AMT patch which affects only a minority and is the same as it is today.
I have not seen an article or study yet that goes from what you are paying right now to what you would... they start from law.
