To be fair:

LSU under Raymond with better talent and going against a less pass-happy conference:

2021: 247.9 yds/gm
2020: 323.0 yds/gm (dead last in Div 1)

You need to provide documentation for this

It's absolutely hysterical that people on this site are legitimately trying to claim that this isn't a downgrade.

I'm genuinely curious what would have to happen for this site to admit that a bad thing happened.

I'm not even kidding, if the team plane crashed and everyone involved with the program died, you would have the majority of TD posters on here saying "hey, this happened to the worst LSU team in 20 years, this is a blessing in disguise. This way we can get a fresh start and we won't have to worry about the bad culture everyone else would've left behind if they'd survived. This also lets us get out of bad coaching contracts with no buy out. We're in a better position now than we were beforehand."

Look at the players he got.

They weren't that good. Oklahoma was the best team in the big 12.

I'm going to give him a chance.

No one has argued losing Raymond is a good thing. No one thinks Cooks is on Raymond’s level.

The issue is that posters are melting over things that haven’t even happened yet. We don’t have any idea what role Cooks was hired for. They would have just announced him as the DB coach if he was Raymond’s direct replacement.

Why don’t y’all at least wait to see who the DC is before melting?

Lol go read the coaching changes board. That's literally the prevailing opinion.

who is melting? All i said was that this is a downgrade. I thought you agreed with that? If you agree with me like you claim then does that mean you are melting too?

. You basically penned a novel that one of the few options left on the board was Stoops, meaning that Woody had obviously botched the coaching search. You were convinced that the rumors of interest in him meant he was a legitimate candidate.

I was responding to the rumors that Stoops was the guy. Rumors from legit media outlets. This wasn't some unfounded concern.

But you were obviously wrong.

I was wrong thinking Stoops would have been a terrible hire? Huh?

Woody did his job and we got a coach who is vastly superior to any of the names you were throwing around, especially fricking Stoops.

I wasn't throwing around Stoops. I was responding to reports that Woodward liked Stoops. Those reports were throwing him around.

I did the same thing for Jimbo's sorry arse and Woodward tried to get him until the bitter end with an insane overpay.

Yeah no shite. Tons of "we don't want the quitter leader" or "we don't want the guy who wants 5 stars and not team players" all over CCB and the rant

There has to be more to it. I can't imagine this was just a "your services are no longer needed" thing at play. I also have not been impressed with our DB play in years.

The issue I see is timing. Recruits are signing next week and BK hasn't presented a comparable or upgrade on the defensive side of the ball. Losing this recruiting cycle, opt outs and transfers, potentially sets us back 3 years

The media around BR hasn’t been right about a single fricking thing in this search. The national sports media has been even worse. Despite that, here you are continuing to parrot their vacuum-filling nonsense.

As for Stoops, no he wouldn’t have been a good hire. I was never in favor of him. I am making fun of you for thinking any of those reports were ever legit and buying the disaster narrative. It was all bullshite. The reports going around about Jimbo almost certainly are too, just like the initial reports of Kelly’s salary, which were WAY off. Yet you seem to still be following the media’s “leaks” wherever they lead.

This could be true. It could also set us back 5 years or it could set us back 1 year or it might not set us back at all.

This is the point. No one knows what is going to happen. No one knows how this thing is going to round out and there are many "fans" on here that just want to shite on everything. Just let it all play out and see where it lands, then you can complain and bitch.

Some of you have Corey Raymond’s d#%£ so far down y’all throats, I fear that nut hair suffocation is a definite possibility. How about we see the results before we come to a conclusion, aye?

They absolutely do and have for years. Look, I understand when we had Orgeron as HC, we needed as much stability on the staff as possible and Raymond has been one of the top recruiters in the country.

But all these people during the search saying Raymond was untouchable was absurd. I've always been in favor of the incoming HC being able to make whatever staff decisions he feels necessary.

100% agree. Time for a new change. And LSU has had GREAT DBs before Raymond. We will keep the DBU name alive.
