WAS a glorified bag man. That's part of the point. The NIL ruling diminishes his prior value as that guy. They don't really need one anymore.
Wilson is fine as a positions coach due to his contacts. But y'all act like this is some major hire while giving him a title that could've gone to someone more valuable.
I'm not arguing that this impacts the gameday performance. I made that clear. But his rep took a hit (especially in coaching circles) after his HC tenure and that will only hurt him with recruits/negative recruiting.

Compare what he did as a position coach not a HC. He was a good coach that was an elite recruiter...probably best LSU had in the Miles/Orgeron era. Yes, this is not only a hot take, it's a dumb take.

His record as a head coach at two bottom dwellers will do literally nothing in terms of his reputation. You honestly beleive Nick Saban will tell another 17 year old kid that "you shouldn't go to LSU because their running backs coach couldn't win games at UTSA"?

No, dude. The point is that you use that AHC title to appeal to a coach who you want to bring in and pay well without giving them a coordinator role. Especially a coach who has or wants a coordinator spot.
It has nothing to do with being Kelly's #2. Ironically, Baylor did this to keep Joey McGuire from taking the UTSA job after Wilson was fired.
You don't use it on a guy who would've taken a positions job even without the title.

Yeah we did that already and got The Godfather of New Orleans recruiting
NIL effected nearly everyone the same. You still need recruiters. Both on college rosters and on high school rosters.

Don't know, dude. I'll admit it because I'm not an LSU fan or even SEC fan. I think Mickey Joseph was the last one. I think he got the upgrade after the national title.
No clue who the prior 2 were (maybe Ensminger was AHC/OC?). I'm saying these things from an outside perspective, not someone sipping the Kool-Aid 90% of this board does.
Literally every message board worships the new coach and its new hires, so of course any negative post here is going to can trashed.
