Hemorrhoid At Home Care - What ya got?

I’m about 5 days in dealing with a pretty large hemorrhoid. I’ve had them pop up before and they are usually pretty small and go away on their own in a few days. I’ve thrown everything at this one and it isn’t getting any smaller. It becomes pretty painful through the day. So far, I’ve tried soaking in a warm bath a few times through the day, ice packs a few times a day, using the prep h wipes, and using the prep h creams.
Any OTC items that have worked for y’all in the past? If it doesnt clear up in the next 5 days I’m going to the doctor.

Boil some pine needles. The turpentine is supposed to help.

Don’t wait, go to the doctor and get some suppositories, if you’re chummy with him he’ll probably call it in without a visit. Make sure you get refills so you’re covered for the future. It’s not worth putting yourself through five days of hell while hoping it clears up.

I'd go to the doc. I remember what ever topicals they would give me were night and day better than anything I could get over the counter.
I feel your pain though.

Fiber is a life saver. Depending on your BM consistency, you need to take either soluable or insoluble. This is life changing.

I had my first one back in college, back when I was lifting heavier, and it sucked. Had a few over the years like you mentioned and they mostly go away on their own, but some tend to linger for a week or more.
Get the suppositories. They're a game changer. They're mostly cocoa butter, but also have a constrictor in there, and that will help with the inflammation and get them to start getting smaller. I think the package says nighttime relief, but I've used them throughout the day. It helps to use a little vaseline and a Qtip to insert it, and although it can be uncomfortable, you want to hold it in place once inserted for a little bit so that it starts to melt and doesn't slip back out before the meds take effect. Best to do it lying down and try not to move for a few minutes before standing back up. If your wife happens to have some pads lying around, toss one in your underwear in case of a little leakage.

Go to doc, and ask for "Rectal Rockets". uhhhh a friend told me that's what he did at least...

I had one that seemed to keep coming back I was trying otc ointment finally I went to see a dr and he said let me just cut the thing and surgically repair it.
I was eating fiber etc and nothing was helping it.

Someone had suggested rutin on here. Rutin+preparation-H. Take a few capsules of rutin.

Like others have said. The cream the doc can prescribe works way better than otc stuff. My wife (no pics) had one flair up real quick the last week of her pregnancy in may. It ended up thrombosing so her doc told her not to do the sit baths anymore. The pregnancy was causing it and she was so close to delivery he gave her meds instead of cutting it out as it wouldn’t really help until the pressure from the baby was gone. Wife was miserable. Couldn’t stand, sit, lay down. Nothing relieved it until she got the Rx cream. I’ve never personally dealt with a roof but I have dealt with a cut down there. fricking miserable.

I had a couple cut out when I was in college. That sucked so bad…the first few poops after we’re painfully miserable.

I dealt with the worst one I’ve ever experienced earlier this year. Felt like a continuous bee sting. Doctor gave me some lidocaine. It was going down by the time I saw the doctor. Brutal, miserable pain.
