He's a Louisiana guy who was the wide receivers coach at Arkansas back in the day and who had put out a number of solid players.

There was a lot of talk a few years ago about trying to bring him to LSU.

Smith went to Kentucky in 2018. He was the guy who developed Lynn Bowden there.

And for some reason he ended up at South Alabama. Last year he put Kawaan Baker into the NFL as a 7th round pick of the Saints, and this year he has Jalen Tolbert, who is likely to go as high as the 3rd round.

I wonder if Smith isn't a possibility as the wide receivers coach.

Was it a “done deal” back then like the fake insiders we have now? Or was the situation still fluid?

I remember Smith. Pretty highly regarded. Would definitely take him over Hankton from GA.

Frank now has Nola on lock down.

Michael Smith did a really good job in his days at Arkansas and was able to help them recruit several Louisiana players to go play for the Hogs. He's a strong recruiter and a very good WR technician. Would not hate that hire one bit.

He'll have to dump those 80s pastels and micro-short beard. Croots don't play dat.
