I always had Anthony Munoz there but it might be time for a change. Any takers?

I always thought of Orlando Pace and Tony Boselli when I think tackles. Whitworth is for sure a top ten tackle of all time. So dominant for so long.

Damn shame he wasted so much time in Cincinnati or he’d be a hall of famer.

Maybe I’m off but he was robbed of tons of all pro honors. Is longevity getting him in?

You play that long you are almost guaranteed the HOF especially at that position
Mawae played a long time too and he was on some dreadful teams as well

For longevity yes. Great Tackle but not top 10. Hall of Fame...solid chance.

For reference (not in order)...

O. Pace
W. Roaf
A. Munoz
A. Shell
J. Slater
D. Dierdorf
G. Zimmerman
R. Yary
B. Matthews
S. Jones

We’re not talking about the Heisman trophy they don’t just give out Hall of Fame slots to people who put up good numbers because they were on good teams, it’s truly an individual award. He’s a hall of famer, his teams’ records don’t matter, he was a hall of fame caliber player his entire career

What is gonna hurt Whitworth is the fact he played in Cincinnati for so long. Remember he went 2 years without giving up a sack at one point and didn't make the Pro Bowl.

You guys remember Pace because he was the #1 overall pick but Jonathan Ogden is the guy from that era that has a claim on the GOAT status. To not even have him on your list is an embarrassing oversight

Dwight Stephenson. So dominant that he was elected to the HOF despite playing less than 8 full seasons.

Whitworth played for Cincinnati from 2006-16 they made the playoffs 6 times. He was first team all pro twice

Joe Thomas played for Cleveland from 2007-17 made zero playoffs and was first team all pro 6 times

His team and market caused him to miss a lot of all-pro awards he deserved. He never got the national recognition he deserved in Cincinnati solely because that team sucked so badly.

The Bengals made the playoffs 6 times with Whitworth. The Browns zero with Joe Thomas, why was Thomas more decorated if team success is the factor you claim?
