Where or why are there not more former LSU players in coaching?
Just curious…

What former players are coaches that we don’t employ?

Not sure if you’re implying I mean we don’t employ former player coaches. What I’m asking is who, where or why aren’t there more former LSU player coaches?

Cause they go to the league and become millionaires and don’t want the grind of having to start from the bottom.

You know if I made millions in the NFL I’d definitely throw myself at a career that starts with long hours, low pay, and time away from family

I know Trev Faulk coaches at the high school level. Kevin Faulk is a coach at LSU. Those are just off the top of my head.

I honestly think Tyrann could be a great coach if he really wanted to be someday. The best thing that ever happened to him is Les kicking him off the team. He got his act together and has really turned into a great pro.

Consider this, coaches are usually lesser talented players. The more talented players your program has, the less likely one of them is going to transition to coaching, and even less likely that the coach will rise to prominence.
Saban went to Kent St, Urban Meyer went to Cincinnati. Who was most successful as a player and a coach, maybe Steve Spurrier who won the Heisman trophy?

Probably Spurrier. Harbaugh has to be up there also.

I remember an old management class that discussed high achievers usually make terrible managers because they neither understand nor can relate to those who do not perform at the manager’s level of productivity and immediately I thought of coaches / players.
I can think of very few people who have or can succeed both on the field and on the sideline

Dunbar
Mawae
Faulk
Rob Sale
We have a former DB I believe that was coaching somewhere and I think he just got fired but I’m blanking on that one
