The Michigan helmet design was actually ripped off from Princeton in the 1930's - the more you know!

Yep - sorry didn't see your post before posting mine. This is correct and why I always had a hard time saying Michigan's helmets were the best when it wasn't an original design.

Little known fact, but Michigan actually ripped off the design from their helmet from a now-defunct Catholic high school from Baton Rouge, Redemptorist High.
