Ole miss football signed by Deuce McAllister when he was still there
That was supposed to be my big Santa gift
My parents told my grandparents about it and my grandad flat out asked me how excited I was about the deuce signed football before Christmas Day
I thought my dad was going to assault his dad. Totally ruined the surprise

My dad built a goal post out of pvc pipe. It wasn’t an expensive or extravagant gift. But I can remember the colossal size of it in the living room (our living room had high ceilings). To this day I could hit an nfl extra point with an nfl ball

1950s. Transistor radio. Parents managed to give each of us one nice gift every year with a charge account at Sears. Took all year to get that and school clothes paid off.
That AM radio opened my ears to w world I had never imagined since we had no TV.
I got to listen to KEEL in daytime. WNOE at night. Some station in St. Louis at night (Cardinals). Somehow a Pittsburgh Pirate station some damn where. A Little Rock station (maybe Beeker Street), and a station in Nashville. Lived in high cotton every night.
Problem was buying a battery pretty often which I had to save up for.
